Samsung UN60H6203AF Partially working, but no image

    Got a 2014 60" Samsung.

It had the usual burned out back-light LEDs. Replaced them, yet for some reason two of the six LED strips the connection connector were not pushed-in all the way, so the ENTIRE circuit was open. Disassembled the TV again to fix the connections at the LED strips.

Now the TV turns on. The back-light stays on, but no image. The open voltage test to the LEDs is 404v to chassis ground, and I get 12.83v to the digital/tuner/mother board with the cable connected to the power supply.

I get no sound. The power LED on the lower right flickers when I change channels on the remote.

What can I do next? Is 12.83v a little low since the silkscreen says 13v on the power supply board?

    Thank you,

    Martin

check and see if you have 12 volts on each side of the fuse on the tcon board, black probe on chassis ground.

Connect one side at a time between the panel and tcon and see if one side displays an image.

Was this a working tv before you changed backlights? As in there was an image? but no backlights?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

When replacing backlights, always test the backlights before reassembling. Most TVs will turn on with the panel disconnected. On Samsungs, you can just disconnect the main board. Also check again with the diffusers installed to check for dirt and dust.

I found it on the street like a few years ago, and I had a LCD back light tester, and tested the lights once the TV did not turn on I ordered the back lights from China for like $30 usd, but they took like 4 months to arrive during the heat of COVID.

I tested the six individual strips, but failed to test all the strips from the power connector. One connector on one set of three was not inserted all the way, and the other set one pin in the connector harness got pushed out, so dummy-me for not testing it at the power connector before assembling it.

The funny thing is I tested each strip mounted all was OKAY!!! But not good enough. I own this one

              Anyways, this was total pilot-error....

                Well Gentlemen,

The darn thing worked, but no explanation???

The voltage at the T-Con fuse was 12.25v on both sides of that fuse, and that is a 7amp fuse by the way....

I was not going to disconnect one side of the T-Con cables-What the heck was it going to do?? Well to my surprise, I got half the screen to WORK!!!! I shut down the set, and I tried the other side of the T-Con cable. The other side works. For giggles lets plug the cable back in and turn on the set, and what do you know. Whole set worked!!!!!

So imeadatly I lowered the LED intensity to like 3 or 4, and selected the input source from HDMI to Areal TV reception. The TV scanned the channels, and it works like a charm...

What gives that it did not work before?

                A) was it jammed up in HDMI?

                B) Was the T-Con overloaded that it need to see half the load?

I will say this. I'm a electronics guy schooling and trade. With all these devices it comes to to electrolytic capacitors, so I did change them, and the output capacitors are Low-ESR(switch mode capacitors), and all the others are general-purpose 105c types. I did try to put in the high 10,000hr type capacitors over the 1000hr types. This was prior to me having the problems.

But the darn TV turned on the next day, and today...

Funny it all works... see the pictures

                Thanks,

                Martin

Ribbon cables where probably not fully seated or misaligned.

Disconnecting one side at a time is a way to diagnose a shorted panel which may be repaired with the tape cutoff method. If one side displays an image, then your tcon is likely working.

I have never encountered a bad electrolytic capacitor in any LED TV in probably over 200 I have repaired. Capacitor failures only common in LCD TVs with CCFL backlighting around 2008 model years.

                        hi
                        having problem with samsung ua55es6800

tv had backlight on, sound working - responds to the remote control but no image.

check tcon board - had 12v in but no other voltages present.
when disconnected left ribbon cable - got back voltages and half image with lines and distorsion

when leaving only left side connected - again no voltages and no image.

put a tape on all (cd?! lines) on the left ribbon cable and got complete but distorted image (horizontal lines).

kept trying to block less pins on the left ribbon cable...
