Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR3 No display or sound

I just got an XBR3 that does not appear to be turning on. As soon as you plug it in the SONY logo and the green power light come on but the screen stays dark. Pressing the power button once gives a single blink of the power light and it remains on. Holding the button in for about 4 seconds causes the logo and the power light to turn off, but as soon as I let go of the button they come right back on.

I have an XBR4 that if I recall correctly has a very distinct relay click when you turn it on, however I'm not hearing that from the XBR3. I just got it yesterday and haven't had a chance to open it up and investigate, but I'm suspecting it may be bad caps on the power supply?

I've read about various board failures with this model causing no screen and sound, but I am not sure if that's the case here. I don't have any blink codes either, just a solid lit power light.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR3 No display or sound

I checked a few voltages tonight. I only have a couple pictures of the boards and connectors because my camera sucks. Anyway, on the large plug between the main and psu I got 5v on the Standby pin, but only about 14.2v on the 18v pin. I also checked the 11v pins on the upper right hand side of the psu and only got about 9.5v on them.. And likewise, the 7v pins were around 6.7v.

The 11v pins on the D2 and D3 board connectors read roughly 9.5v also.

With the set "on" (green power light and white Sony logo), if I unplug the psu to main board connector everything cuts out, naturally. But if I plug it back in the power light and logo immediately light back up. It appears as if the main is either sending, or holding, an always on condition. What should I be looking at next?

I checked voltages on several of the caps on the power supply board and all of them I checked were half voltage or less. For example the two large caps are supposed to be 450v and they were 175v, 16v caps we're reading at 8v, and a 25v read 10v. I had only the power plug and main board connector plugged in. Several of the pins on the main board plugs we reading less as well, for example a Standby 3.3v was reading 1.9v.

Am I possibly looking at a failed PSU, or is there a signal the main board is supposed to be sending that maybe it's not?

Those voltage readings are odd firstly change your battery in your meter then i would test a 1.5 or 9v battery and make sure your meter is reading correctly and double check your meter is on dc volts

I will verify the meter and report back. Thanks Vince.

              by reassor
              Hi.
              Power is ok
Tv turns on by it self when you turn IT off with button or pług.it shows sony logo the android logo but with like 1 frame every 10 sec. Music starts after like 1 min. After some time logo will Just hang. But i can turn volume up and down on a pilote but its very slow as well.

Should i force update? If so how?

              I did reset.

              Mainboard Looks pristine.

              Very wierd.

              Sony Bravia KD-50X690E NO SOUND
              by x_orange90_x
Finally got my KD-50X690E up and running after replacing the power supply. Upon testing it I noticed the lack of sound from the speakers. At first I just ignored it thinking it was set to external speakers or some other kind of audio setting. However, after actually going into settings and looking around I see nothing of this sort. I looked it up on Google and apparently a lot of people have disappearing audio on a variety of Sony TVs 🙄. I'm going to see if a firmware or software update will resolve it, if available.

Has anyone else had this happen to their tv?

Monitor Audio RSW12 - Green light, but no sound
              by MOSSEP
              Hi

Im hoping someone might be able to give me some idea of what may be wrong with my Monitor Audio RSW12 Sub.

Ive owned it since new in around 2002, so would really like to keep it running if I can, it was the first ‘decent' bit of audio equipment I ever purchased and is a little sentimental.

The issue I had was that it would power up with the red light, but sometimes the green light would not come on and I would get no bass from it. If the green light did come on though, I would get sound out of it.

I have already tried replacing all of the...

              by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

Sony TV model KD-65XE7005 - only Sony logo for 3 seconds
              by mauda
I'm currently working on repairing a malfunctioning Sony TV model KD-65XE7005 with the mainboard 1-981-926-21. I would appreciate your assistance with this issue.

Upon powering on the TV, the Sony logo appears for approximately 3 seconds, after which the backlight remains lit, the screen remains black, and nothing else happens. The TV consumes around 55W initially and then drops to 35W. The indicator LED remains solid white. It doesn't respond to the remote control. When attempting to update the TV using a USB dongle, the dongle briefly flashes but nothing else happens.
