Samsung UE40D5520RKXXU USB Problem

Samsung UE40D5520RK with a USB Problem, when put a USB device into either USB port, message comes up on screen as usual saying USB device (and the name of device) detected. Click to open, and screen goes blank, all buttons on remote or TV become unfunctional, have to unplug to restart, whether USB device is removed or not.

Have tried factory reset, have opened up and reset eeprom.

Any help greatly appreciated

Have you formatted the USB drive as per the user manual. I think it has to be formatted as FAT16 but I'm not 100% certain. Also is there a limit to the USB drive size for your set.

Ah, do you happen to know the limit of the size please??

That could be it, as its a 64gb USB and its close to capacity

Post #6 has the USB drive formatted as FAT32

Also the USB drive should hold the firmware only and nothing else.

Ah im not trying to update it from USB, yes the drive is fornatted fat 32, it contains video files to watch. The usb works fine on various other TVs, just not this one

Various, some avi, mp4, etc

It should play Divx, Xvid and HD mkv, I'd suspect the NAND if it isn't, it's a D series.

Thats what I was afraid of, I was hoping there was maybe a reset to do other than what Id already tried :/

They aren't hard to replace, they are around £20 on ebay programmed or £2ish blank and a programmer for them around £100.
