Panasonic Plasma 42PV80LB 7 Blinks, VSCN too high

Hello I'm struggling with this old plasma TV and its SC board, TNPA4393, I've measured the SU/SD buffers, every IGBT and transistors, gate drivers, SMD diodes, optocouplers etc, no shorts or suspecting measurings, at least with they soldered on the board.

    VSUS - 187V
    VDA - 75V
    VE - 130V
    VSET - 320V
    VAD - (-149V)
    16V_F
    5V_F A/B
    15V

All voltages are normal except for VSCN, which according to the service manual is supposed to be 145V+-4V, it is always 205V.
VSCN voltage is fixed, generated and measured from VAD as ground, even if I lower VAD to -112V("minimum" allowed by the trimpot), VSCN doesn't change.
I have a working SC board from 42PZ80LB (Full HD model) and it has the same component placing, except more transistors to handle increased power load.
I swapped between the SC boards the VSCN controllers (IC787 and IC786) and nothing changed, the 7 blink protection of VSCN and VAD is located on the A-Board.
No changes on the voltages with or without the SU/SD buffers plugged in, also the screen is completely dark always, no flashes.
IC786 is a MIP9L02 from Panasonic itself, no datasheets, VAD is generated by the same model IC(IC784).

Re: Panasonic Plasma 42PV80LB 7 Blinks, VSCN too high

Okay, for some reason for now the TV "fixed itself", I hooked up my oscilloscope on the VSCN line, and powered on the TV, then VSCN jumped to 207V, there was a quick descend to ~130V, but it went up to 207V again until the caps lost their charge. Everytime VAD or VSCN(I don't know which one) started to discharge the SC made an horrible screeching noise.

Then I tried powering on about 10 times, two of these times it went to 146V and stayed there until 7 blinks, the buffers were isolated, I plugged/screwed them in. The TV powered on, there was image and everything else was working perfectly.

When the SC produced the correct VSCN of 146V there was way less screeching.

Of course this fault will come back anytime I imagine, there is no miracle fix here, for now I will let it heat on and off multiple times, leave it some days unpowered, etc.

Also when I bought this TV it was plagued with dust, since 2008 it never had a fault and was never opened according to the owner, it was true, I ended up washing all the boards and connectors, resoldered with a hot air station some SMD components at YSUS board because their pads were blackened by the dust, maybe it helped.

The service menu image test shows clearly that the coating in the glass has been wearing out, results of humidity, heat and many hours of use, a pity, and everyday I'm seeing more and more plasmas having this problem, also some old LCDs.

Look at that 37157 hours count, 11946 times powered on, that's the highest I saw yet.

      Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
      by jm1234
      Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Panasonic Plasma TH-50PZ85U No screen No blinks on red power light
      by Alicat
      Hello,

Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

      Model number is TH-50PZ85U

Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

I also hear a few clicks.

I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

      Panasonic Plasma ST50 TC-P55ST50 P55ST50 8 blinks
      by nick31
      Hello,
My Oct 2012 panny plasma quit working yesterday.
It was on when it happened. It let out a bit of burned plastic/circuit board smell. I was not able to find any burned parts though.
Now it produces 8 blinks. According to the repair manual, that points to SS/SS2 board(s).
I completed the steps in the guide: unplugged SS33, the TV turned on with a black screen, no blinking codes. Then I checked the continuity between pins 1 and 2 of the connectors SS52, SS54-SS57. The continuity is ok in all of them. Guide suggests to replace SS/SS2 boards so I placed an order...

      Hi everyone!
I happened several times, in the search for help from the web, to consult this very interesting forum.
So I decided to sign up and I intend to participate actively by making available my knowledge and experience on the subject, I'm a new user but at the same time I'm old in the sense that I have 4 decades of experience in repairing and designing electronics but above all I'm a great passionate about the subject.

Having said that I come to the gist of my post on the forum as the title suggests.
For my passion for technology I'm now collecting several...

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
      by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...
