LG 60PM6700 Loud pop and now TV won't stay on

LG 60PM6700 Loud pop and now TV won't stay on.

When attempting to power on, tv will come off standby for 2 seconds then shut off again. TV will stay on if YSUS board is disconnected. (EAX64279701)

    Power board is EAY62609801.

Should I assume YSUS board is defective?

Re: LG 60PM6700 Loud pop and now TV won't stay on

You are on the right track.

If TV stays on when YSUS board is disconnected, the problem could be the YSUS or one of the Y-buffer boards connected to the YSUS.

With all boards connected (including YSUS), try disconnecting the upper and lower buffer boards and turning on the TV. If the problem still remains after disconnecting both buffer boards, then the problem is certainly the YSUS.

If the TV turns on and stays on with YSUS connected but upper and lower buffer boards disconnected, then the issue could be one of the Y buffer boards. You may then have to try with one buffer or the other connected to isolate which Y driver may be the issue.

This may be one of the LG models that needs both working buffers connected to show an image. If one is not working, you will not get image.

Without full circuit path, screen may only illuminate as dark grey for the half of the screen that is connected to a working buffer. Other half will remain completely dead.

You can determine which buffer is the bad one by seeing if the upper or lower half of the screen dimly illuminates when only one buffer is connected when power is applied. (The connected buffer that allows screen to dimly illuminate is likely ok).

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
      by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
      All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
      by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
      • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
      • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
      by Yanleb
      Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

Philips 43PUS7506/12 - Loud blown out sound
      by aidanmo
      Hello,

I've got a really strange issue with the speakers on my Philips 43PUS7506/12. It makes this awful loud buzzing now. It happened after it was attempted to be wall mounted - I think the back got squeezed and something broke.
I thought maybe the speakers got damaged, so I replaced them - no dice.
      • Using the internal speakers, it always happens.
      • Using the headphone jack, it never happens.
      • Using the digital/optical out with a soundbar - it happens after about 2h/movie runtime - it's never as drastic, it just pops in and out, but I didn't want it to damage the sound bar
