LG 55LB6500 - Dim Logo - Getting Ready for New Backlights

From my reading, this LG looks like so manty others, with the slightly visible logo at power on.
I'm pretty sure the metal back is coming off so I can replace ailing backlights.

I thought I'd go ahead and post up, since this model didn't search here.

    Here's the 20 pin voltages:

    GND
    11.8
    11.8
    GND
    23.8
    GND
    3.4
    3.4
    3.3

    Evens
    GND
    23.9
    11.8
    23.9
    2
    3.4
    2
    3.3

The big cap is 395 VDC.

There are 2 pairs of LED leads at P801.

    With P801 connected:
    Pin 7 LED+ 207
    Pin 5 LED- 26.8
    Pin 3 LED+ 138
    Pin 1 LED- 18.8

    With P801 disconnected:
    Pin 7 LED+ 90
    Pin 5 LED- 0
    Pin 3 LED+ 90
    Pin 1 LED- 0

The voltages don't spike at P801 when powered on, and connected.

I guess we'll see what needs replacing after I get to the strips.

Or are those voltages pointing to something else?

You should do a full replacement of all strips. The LB's use a thicker style lens and the double sided tape is super strong. The lenses can also fall off/get loose with age and will definitely come off when removing the strips. Trick is to use a scraper to remove but tap the handle with a rubber mallet.

      I appreciate that.

My thought was investigating compatible new strips, and not getting hung up on delivery times.

The way these guys have been failing, I don't feel like playing the risk with pre-owned.

From my other work I have a fairly complete line of solvents. I'll start out with the light stuff and move up the column.

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
        by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

        I made the following tests:
        1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
        2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

        VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
        by bpcannan
        'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.
        by jesterace
Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...
