    Bad news.

You were not careful enough and you damaged the panel ribbon cable and also the locking tab on the connector.

The ribbon cable is part of the panel and not repairable. I don't know what you did, but these are delicate and you must have pulled or yanked on it in some way.

The black plastic locking tab is easily lifted by finger nail and should not break unless you force it with a screwdriver or something...

You will not be able to fix this TV and you will need to use it as is.

      ugh.

Okay. Guess ill pull all the boards off and try and sell them on ebay.

Throw the rest away. Dang. Not sure how that cable got ripped like that. It flipped behind the connector, and i just pulled it out really slow, beats me. Total bummer. Thank you again for your help!

You could try re-seating that ribbon cable in case it just wasn't pushed in or secured properly.

But chances are that you kinked or pinched it in some way.

Or use a laptop or pc to resize a smaller window that is not affected by the damage. It would still be equal to a 50" or 55" screen. Seems a waste to junk it.

Thing wont come on in test pattern at all now. top heat sink on upper buffer board is super hot now.

Im wondering if something else is wrong. cant get any response with a test pattern, unless i remove lower buffer board. I dont know if lower board is fried again. Im tired of playing with it. I was trying to get it fixed for someone that is having a rough time, was going to give it to them

Re: lg 60pz550 black screen, no power, etc

I have the same model and had to replace 4 Fairchild IGBTs.

Now the unit turns on and stays on but no picture.

Using a block diagram schematic (http://www.toms-service-manuals.com/...&Search=Submit), i disconnected LVDS and shorted control board test pads.

To my joy a clear test pattern emerged! It’s here i noticed the control board led flashing: two long followed by two short blinks. The schematic mentioned if the test pattern is showing but no display then suspect mainboard failure.

So I have been troubleshooting the mainboard as I cannot find a replacement online. Other than a surface mount diode reading a bit strange (in circuit), i cannot find the fault.

I have also tried pulling heatsinks and heating both BGA chips with a heatgun but the same error blinks are showing.

I have done LVDS connector to ground continuity checks and theres quite a few grounds scattered through the pins on the mainboard side but without a schematic I am stuck. All LVDS pins go to the BGA chip without the heatsink on it which I have already tried reflowing anyway.

I think the next step is to try baking the mainboard in an oven but I only have one that goes to 250c.

Alternatively legonch, could you check which pin son your LVDS connector (with the ribbon disconnected) are grounds?

Or would you consider selling me your mainboard?

HP 15-EH1070wm - Black Screen With Power LED.
                by grimacelord
                Hello,

I have an HP 15-eh1070wm laptop that came to me for the same reasons I am starting this thread. The charging LED appears when the laptop power adapter is connected and the power LED appears when pressing the power button, but nothing appears on screen.

First thing I did was take off the bottom panel and remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds and then reinstall the battery and power on. The fan spins and this time, the back light illuminates and a brief message appears on the screen for about 1 second saying something along like,...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
                by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Acer Aspire 5 A515-51 power on but black screen
                by rybby
                Hi,

I have an acer aspire 5 a515-51 that turns on but has a black screen.

This laptop has the same symptoms as https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...er+aspire+a515, however mine is a different model Acer Aspire A515-51 (without the 'G'). There is no onboard ram on this laptop.

Description of the problem is the same: I press the power button, the fan spins for a few seconds and then stops, the computer stays on all the time (led blue), the cpu and gpu are lukewarm. If I leave the pc on for a few minutes the fan starts...

Acer K272HUL blue power light but black screen, power supply is ok
                by burntonnerings
Have had two Acer K272HUL monitors die with the same symptoms:

                - Blue power light is illuminated while the monitor is plugged in
                - Black screen (no splash screen, etc.)
                - Power button doesn't do anything

Opened it up and checked for bad caps and components, evidence of burns, etc. - everything looks fine.

                Power supply voltages are fine.

There are some signal lines on the power supply harness that goes from the power supply to the logic board, not sure what these should be at.

                Anyone have any ideas?...

Asus Laptop GL702VS black screen power LED on
                by samolo75
                Hi,
I am fighting with this laptop and I am suspecting of the GPU, but it would be great to know your opinion.
The laptop originally does show black screen (no back light) but the power button LED turn on and off when pressing it.
I did the next trouble shooting with no changes
                - Disconnected the battery and try just with the power supply
                - Disconnected all power sources, even the CMOS battery and held the power button for 40sec.
                - Disconnected hardrives
                - Deplaced the RAM
                - Disconnected the Wifi module
                - I connected a external monitor to the...
