Need help with samsung pd550 service menu settings

    Hello Every one,

I own a Samsung pd550 plasma display and recently it had an issue where the HDMI ports stopped working. I read somewhere that a Hard reset from service menu might help, which I tried and did not help. Also unfortunately while I was at it I accidentally messed up my service menu settings and now the picture I get is Purple/Magenta in color. I observed that the color hue settings for Green is set to zero and I cannot increase it.

Can some one please help me with correct settings for the service menu for this TV to overcome this magenta color problem and any pointers for resolving the HDMI port issue.

I tried reaching out to Samsung support, but the technician who came over wasn't much help. He was insisting that the panel was faulty and needed to be replaced, I pointed out that the colors in the menus seem fine and only picture from video sources are having issues with color. I also informed him that I have accidentally messed up the settings but he is adamant that the issue is either with the panel or the mother board and replacing either would be cost prohibitive for me.

Appreciate any and all help in this regard, Thanks.

Your HDMI ports quit working due to the fact that you have a sub codec processor that for most likely failed not sending the handshake data to the main processor. This processor is most likely a silicon image or Samsung proprietary.

As for the service menu check to see if your LVDS input is set to JEIDA. Also mow many bits? 8, 10? You could try changing those settings and if it doesn't work put it back to the original value. None the less if you have a codec processor failure if you don't know how to pull that processor and replace it you're looking at a replacement main board anyway.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?
