Yeah, I remember those. Those are what I watched when I had that first dead IPM I mentioned - transistors are too expensive to justify the effort/risk though, at least locally, since they would probably be relatively inexpensive online somewhere. I wouldn't do this for a client - only if it were my TV and had the time to waste. I think it's getting a new Y sus or going in the bin. I believe the guy said he didn't have bad fuses either, so it could be similar to my case.

Well, type IPM Repair into google I have never done this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CARdm0o0FyM

I guess there's no point in removing it - there's no "repairing" an IPM from what I gather.

The 18v is never 18v in these LGs.. always 15v what I've always encountered. Sounds like your IPM is wasted

    Those resistors checked ok.

I also get 15v out of these regulators pictured, despite the silk screen on the bottom saying 18v. This happens when I supply 5v to the 5v pin on the main connector. The regulators ARE 15v regulators, so they operate fine.
IPM looks more and more dead at this point.

Also found where -Vy should go (resistor checks OK), but haven't measured it yet.

passive 8 pin resistors that carry control board ribbon signals in to the ysus. On the ysus inline with the ribbon input

What are RA1-8 ? Sorry, don't have the board in front of me right now and my photographic memory's not all that great

Diodes yes, resistors no, at least not extensively. I did check some of the larger SMD ones, since it was easier to do, but haven't gone all out to check every last bloody one on there

Removing the IPM module alone makes me sick. Combine that with the fact that it's cast in gel and with the probability it's not the issue and it makes me hesitant to even struggle to pull that IPM out...probably easier to go with a replacement Y-sus, though that's also a gamble since the issue could also be somewhere else. I'm leaning towards a faulty Y-sus myself TBH. Fixing it would be awesome tho I HAVE fixed some before, but there were obvious shorts and dead components.

The meter doesn't have time to refresh fast enough to capture it - I tried it The only way I can try it is to remove the ribbon like I said, which makes it stay on...this is what's actually puzzling the hell out of me. There's probably an error signal or something that's sent by the Y-sus via that flex cable that causes it to shut down.

Its happened to me before.. Not quite as common, however it happens.. Ive had DC regulator issues within an IPM module fail as well causing this with no blown fuse.

You can try checking it before it shuts down

I think I recall seeing Vy across a large resistor on the Y-sus, but like I said, I can't convince the TV to stay on, except by disconnecting that ribbon between the control board (which I mistakenly call a T-con) and the Y-sus.

Vsc, -Vy are marked on the Y- and Vzbias on the Z-sustain
You should be able to see them

Very good material here, albeit for a different model. I'm mostly interested in learning as much "plasma lingo" as possible so you guys don't have to struggle and waste time explaining it to me. VSC and VY are both somewhere on the Y sustain apparently. Given that Vs shuts off, even with the Y sus in place, I doubt I'll get either of those.

Oh, is VSC like the "t-con" ? If yes, then I believe that's OK: there's a couple of regulators like 5v, 3.3v and 1.8v on it and they all checked fine. Even tried powering it with an external 5v adapter (disconnected from the TV of course) and it turned on, generated those voltages and began flashing the green LED in the bottom corner of the board, so I BELIEVE it's fine. One thing I noticed is that there's a row of 4 LEDs slightly off-center and only 3 of those come on. Without a manual to tell me what they represent, it's hard to tell if that's an error or it's normal. Can't believe the most crucial information is not in that manual I got....
UPDATE: ok, no VSC is not that.....but at least now I checked another thing off the list FAAAAAIL !

Hitachi 55HDS69 55" Plasma TV - No Picture But Sound
    by KYBOSH
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Trying to Save - LG 60PH6700 60-inch plasma HDTV - Powers ON but no picture
    by KYBOSH
Saved this beast from the landfill this weekend.
    Manfactured July 2013 in Mexico.

I love working on plasma TVs.
Its been a while but I was lucky enough to find 2 this week.

The TV powers on and stays on but no picture. Havent checked for sound yet.
No bulging caps although the insides are pretty dusty and the boards are discolored from many years of high heat.
    Will start troubleshooting tonight.

T-con suspect issue. Both ribbon cables no picture. One ribbon cable ok. (58pus8545)
    by Tr0ll
Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

    Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

    First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

LG 32LG3000 TV, three red light flashes, then the backlight turns on, but no picture
    by ItepK
Hello everyone! I've found this television, and I began troubleshooting it.

First, the television kept rapidly power cycling. I've warmed up the capacitors with a hairdryer, and after 3 dimmed red blinks, the backlight turned on, then turned dim, and no picture was present on the screen.

I believed that this was caused by a bad power supply producing insufficent power (I've measured 3.5v on the 5.2v rail), so I've blindly recapped the board.

After the recapping, all the voltages stableized, however, the issue in the title still remains.

    I could...

55" QLED QE55Q60T Turns on after 1 minute the picture goes bad and get in boot loop
    by burbutsalos
    Hello ,
The issue with this set is that it turn on just fine and after a minute or so the picture shows either vertical lines or turns half black and from that point on starts a boot loop.
If a let the unit to cool down for a minute the same pattern starts again. i had exactly the same mainboard as a spare and replaced it but nothing changed.

    Any ideas what to check?...
