What kind of skills are we talking about? I'm an Auto Tech and have done plenty of wiring repairs but nothing on a circuit board. Any videos of this repair? I'm a swift learner.

All i can find is used boards or repair services. There are new boards being sold out of China, but i don't know how much i would trust them. Is there any other tv's that carry the same board that i may be able to dissect for this board?

Unfortunately I don't think so. This is a propriety board.

There are quite a few things that can go wrong with this board but for starters this is kind of what you're looking at in terms replacing to get the board backup and running.

I see there's 7 of those mosfets in the kit but the board has probably twice as much. Also, i pulled the board and gave it a close look. I noticed on the underside around those mosfets the board has very slight discoloration. Is the board itself junk?

No discolouration is due to high wattage usage these things get hot. Not all of those mosfets burn. Usually the repair kits consist of the most common failed ones

You have been very helpful. I appreciate all the advice. I know an electronics whiz, I'm going to see if he can solder in the components in the repair kit. Hopefully that'll fix the issue. I really don't want to spend a fortune on a new TV quite yet. I'll keep you posted on whether or not the repair was a success.

You could just simply send it in to Modudlink PTS for a rebuild. Safest option. Kit may work, may not. not all fail identically.

If you screw up th erepair attempt, unlikely anyone will rebuild it for you.

I have bolted as TNPA5081 from a 50" straight in. But they are very similar in design and failure so you will have as much difficulty and expense finding one.

Match the revision or version of your board, the 5105 as with all SC boards are tailored to the differet sized panels and as they get bigger they also add additional transistors

As promised here's the verdict on doing the repair kit on the SC board. I bought the kit that shopjimmy sells. I had a friend that works at a medical electronics lab repair the board. She said all went well but she wasn't crazy about a couple caps, so she replaced those as well. She also replaced the other mosfets that didn't come in the kit as a precaution. Her logic is they all had the same amount of time on them and the remaining ones could be problematic not too far down the road.

I'm happy to say it did the trick. The plasma is up and running, and looks fantastic. Thanks for all the help everyone!
