OK, this tv i was able to narrow down to main, with main disconnected backlights turn on and is crisp. Started doing some testing and found out it has a short to ground in the audio section, both pin1 on ic301 and pin1 on ic 701 are both shorted to ground, will see if i can isolate the short stay tuned. if somebody has felt with this before please speak up thanks.

Thinking about removing ic701 and see if short goes away.Attached FilesComment

That is RS232 IC. The main board has RS232 port? I do not think that is correct.

According to my fluke 75 it is 00.1 to 00.0 in ohm range. in diode mode it beeps. No it don't have a serial port perhaps i misidentified it but that is the part numbers i listed in post #3 had to use a digital microscope to see the tiny print a magnifying glass wasn't strong enough for my eyes anyhow.Comment

Re: Samsung UN46EH500F
Well much to learn yet been though i should have known this. Anyhow is it a safe bet if backlights come on without main connected that the main is faulty? i probably should do some voltage readings and list them.Comment

Re: Samsung UN46EH500F
Will do first thing on morning not by tv atm. However here is a video of the same tv so you have an idea of layout. However evidenced by this video this tv had several Leds out , this will be the first i ever seen with that many leds out and still turn on. I have been able to get backlights to turn on by disconnecting main will have to take a double take tomorrow as well to see if there is dark spots which i think will be hard to do with no image we'll see.
So far every led repair i've done only has 1 to 3 led out and it will refuse to turn on. This video shows tons out

Re: Samsung UN46EH500F
Ok yeah 2 headphone looking jacks i will look on back panel in morning see what label it has i would imagine one is input and the other is out? we'll see.
Wait what you said it looks like a serial port? next to the tuner box? The port above the fiber optic port? Never seen that type before in a microphone/headphone jack. a serial port really? i will have to look on back cover and see if it has a label for it.Last edited by heavymachines; 10-18-2017, 10:16 PM.Comment

Re: Samsung UN46EH500F
OK, it is the serial port (service port, E-LINK). Lots of device out there use miniphone jack for serial port, it uses a lot less space.Never stop learning

by ohrenI hope this is the right forum to post in despite not technically being a repair, but still a question of swapping boards.
I thought I'd explore the possibility to upgrade an existing working Samsung ue55nu7096u with the logic board (and power board if needed) of a newer model (ue55ru7105k) of the same size and appearance (and resolution). The reason being I'd like the extra inputs of that board including component in, an extra HDMI port and bluetooth. Its panel is broken so I have no use for the board otherwise.
The models launched in 2018 and 2019 respectively.... -

by brucetvWell, just snapped the back on another piece of crap less than 2 year old Samsung after giving the customer the bad news that the lower panel driver boards have so many shorts its not recoverable. Now if your tv takes even a subtle surge it not only takes out part of your main board/tcon board it keeps on going right into those lower panel driver boards and the customer doesn't want to pay my hourly fee to find shorted caps in parallel, fried resistors, and shorted diodes. We really started to see them roll in like this in the KS,MU,NU, RU, and now QN series Samsung's it seems they are deliberately...

by torchzackHi Team - just joined to see if anyone can offer some expertise in diagnosing an issue with a TV.
I've done a few hours googling and youtubing but just seeing if anyone has any insight here. I got a 55" Samsung UE55MU6470U which seems to boot loop and then after 10 mins will boot, work for a few minutes, then turn off and repeat.
Whilst it's on into the normal Samsung menu/boot screen it looks perfect - so I can't see there being any screen issues. I've seen lots of videos with taping across clock lines to diagnose which particular one may be an issue but i don't... - Loading...
