Good day folks. I wrote a separate thread about this just in case someone had a brainy idea that would help me salvage a Samsung UE40H6400 which keeps rebooting every 10 seconds, but apparently the only thing I can do is swap out the whole mainboard. I found one, but despite being physically identical, it's listed as being for a 32 incher (UE32H6400), whereas my set is 40 inches (UE40H6400). The model of the board is absolutely identical and so is the panel, with the exception of the two numbers that denote the size (32, instead of 40)...should I go for it ? What do you guys think ? Would the board "adapt" itself to the larger panel or will I get issues ? It's not terribly cheap either, so I wouldn't want to buy it for nothing....

Re: Replacing 40 inch mainboard with 32 inch mainboard
It will almost always work if the panel size is the only difference.
If the panel model or manufacturer is different there is a possibility it will not work. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: Replacing 40 inch mainboard with 32 inch mainboard
This should be fine aslong they match other than the size...ive done this a few times with samsung boards and both times they worked flawlessly.. 32 inch board into a 40 inch and a 50 inch board into a 40 inch..you can also go into the service menu and change the panel size etc etc

Re: Replacing 40 inch mainboard with 32 inch mainboard
The exception is plasma TVs.
Panasonic - almost never can you swap A board for different sizes as it also controls panel. The panels have different discharge parameters (reset/init ramps, energy recovery capacitance, and peak discharge energy.) Wrong board can cause maldischarge or sustain board failure.
Samsung/LG - the 42" and 50" 720p sets use a different resolution. Also some Samsung late model plasmas integrate the control board function onto the main board, which locks that to the panel in the same way as Panasonic. Not aware of any LGs doing this, but they might do in some models, so watch out.Last edited by tom66; 08-21-2017, 02:36 PM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Re: Replacing 40 inch mainboard with 32 inch mainboard
I've had an 50 inch HD LG plasma which main board was corrupted, the menu was clipping out but still readable, some screens were all diagonal-like(skewed 60ยบ) and barely recognizable, but the service menu was intact!Tool and area option were set to a 32 inch model, just changed and it got fixed.
If something goes wrong you'll probably have display and will be able to see properly,so acessing the service menu and changing whatever is necessary will be an option, for your Samsung TV i say.

Re: Replacing 40 inch mainboard with 32 inch mainboard
I just noticed another difference, which I must admit I haven't spotted till now: the panel for the one I want to buy is advertised as CY-GH040CSLV7H, whereas mine has a 2 instead of that 7....it's like a game of "spot the difference", just with TVsWattevah...
