    Panasonic TC-P50G10 5 blinks

    5 blink code says missing/shorted P5V or shorted Vda line. Cannot find any evidence of a short. I get 5V momentarily on plugging into AC, before gets shut down by SOS. Anything else to check??

    Any history on the set?

    Remove the SC20 connector and powerconnector on the sc board. Meter in diode/beep mode and put the propes on the SC board connector , do you get a continuously beep?

    Do the same on SS board.

      I removed SC20 and SC2 is the connector to the power board, and yes there is a short between the 2 pins on SC2 on the SC board. I assumed 5 blinks was something on the main board and this short would be a 7 blink problem.

      So I have a short somewhere on the SC or SD/SU?

      Isolated SD/SU boards, turns to 3 blinks.

        Also did the resistance test on SC/SD/SU, SD and SU tested OK, SC tested as follows:

        "Using a digital meter measure the resistance between the VF-ground screw (Floating ground) and pin 3 of connector SC42.
        Also measure the resistance between the VF-ground screw (Floating ground) and pin 5 of connector SC42 on the SC board.
        The normal resistance for pin 3 is approximately 2.9Kilo-ohms and approx. 5.7Kilo-ohms for pin 5."

        pin3=2.9k
        pin5=5.3k

        Is that 5.3k an issue from the normal 5.7k?

        NM. Just checked SC board and just about every through hole transistor and diode shorted. I was thrown off by the 3 and 5 SOS codes.

        Is this board worth repairing?

          Most of these models all have shorted sc boards.
          It is worth to repair the board but dont buy a repair set , to much money. It is best to figure out which parts need to be replaced and usually it is not just a few fets.

          Tv gives a good picture!

            I have a P50G11B,it is almost the same except for the A board layout is different,when i got it had so many problems.
            Had to buy the SC,SS and SD boards,my SC had ALL of the transistors shorted and almost all of their drivers too,burned resistors,only 4 diodes were still working,a repair was possible but the FETs were more expensive than a used SC working where i live,and the drivers that failed i couldn't identify them,let alone find a replacement.
            By reading on how your SC failed,maybe it is not worth it,sometimes the IGBTs will seem shorted,but it is only their drivers,which are some small SMD 5 pin near the transistor it controls.
            Should be giving 7 blinks for a scan circuit fault,but maybe it is also shorting the voltage supplied from A board flat cable to SC.
            I've repaired mine,excelent picture,no problems now except for the really bad black level.
