Likely t-con, it's rare for repeating vertical lines to be caused by a panel failure.

      Ok,
I had it in with a failed as15 chip
replaced chip twice and both times have had this ...

      Posibbly bad batch of as15's

or has something else also gone on the tcon board

Good thing i didnt strip for parts yesterday..lol

So a replacement chip solved the problem?
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

You've tried cleaning and reseating cables?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

AS15 wouldn't cause this. Doubt dirty cables would either. Likely a processor fault on the T-con -- maybe the RAM or BGA soldering. I think the M86 has an advanced T-con -- I can't remember if this model has the 100Hz interpolation stuff.

Gone into storage till a tcon comes up at a reasonable price.
might try relfowing the board if I get time..
but otherwise will update once i have access to a replacement tcon.
                Thanks for all the input

Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 - Pink vertical lines due to chipped LCD panel?
                  by Anonmis
Hello all, I was recently repairing my Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 tv from the common burnt backlight LED's and cracked light guide panel issue. After replacing the LED's and putting the TV back together, I tested the tv and all I was getting was sound but no image. Somewhere along the way (could be related to the next issue) the T-Con board became damaged and after replacing it I have made a little bit of progress but now have bright pink vertical lines and still no image.

The bigger issue .... I took the TV apart again and realized that I likely didn't sit the LCD panel correctly...

I have a problem with my Samsung LCD panel a320ap20s4lv0.4. There appears vertical lines where ever there is text . See my pictures.
this problem only happen with HDMI input, not with VGA
the picture is so good with VGA input
Could this be fixed by cutting some kind of tracks on PCB that drives the LCD panel?
vgh even vgh odd signal from Shift Register
                  and directly connected to panel?
Thanks for all the help in advance.

                  Failure Symptom

No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.

                  Where is the short?

Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.

Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but...

                  • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
                  • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
                  • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
                  • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
                  • Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display
