I have 50 inch plasma Panasonic that has the 8 blink trouble . I have been reading all the threads listed on site and also checked and replaced most of the parts I read about. No luck. Just to let you know a little history. It had a shorted Q051 tr shorted dg302 which I replaced. I discovered that if I removed ss33 ribbon connector I would get sound and a faint display in left front top corner. As soon as you hooked back s33 connector you get 8 blinks. After all my checking I discovered that on SS57 connector that goes to display does not have any continunity from pins 1&2 as all the other connectors going to panel. Pin 1 on these connectors go to green resistors at end of ss board. pin 13 also don't show any reading like the others on this connector. This doesn't seem right to me so my question is am I right or not? Could this cause the 8 blinks? If it is how could loose screws and shorted transistor cause bad connector to panel. Help -Am I overlooking something?

Oh dear. He means 2 versions that are used in production. WHich one is yours? Photos? Part number and revision?
Sounds like the SS is still faulty, were all these checked or replaced?
Bad driver IC?

yes those were all replaced. part no. is tnp5623ab. ss panel. What I would really like to know has anyone ever measured res. of the ribbon cables going from ss panel to display panel pin 1 to pin 2. they all read the same except one I mention above. my camera is lost at moment but panel can be observed by pulling up thread by model no. on this site. thanks for info.Comment

Since it is possible to run the set with just one FPC cable connected (picture is fine), the FPC detect will shut down if not all cables are detected as being connected. The reasoning is that just one cable will overheat if it is used without others connected, so all cables must be connected simultaneously.
Only Panasonic has this system. Other set manufacturers don't, and I've seen pictures of a melted Z-sustain connector on a set which had one ribbon installed incorrectly, so it appears, at least in principle, to be a sensible idea. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: panasonic tc-50pu54 no picture ligh blinks 8 times
Back again. This set is driving me crazy. I think i'm going to need schematic to go further. Does anyone have one or know where one could be found? I found a flow chart and it said all the connectors going to panel from ss panel has to have connection between pins 1&2. I have connection on all but ss57. Number 1 on all connectors go to some sort of detect ckt. so i'm assuming this could be my problem. I traced out cable and it looks good. Did anyone else have this problem?Comment

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

by BiruslapioBought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.
Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner... -
by brithepi2kMy Samsung UE75TU7020k lights up fine when one of the ribbon cables are disconnected from the main board, lights stay on but not getting half a picture, I do the same with the other ribbon and put the other one in and lights stay on but not getting half a picture. The standby light flashes 2 times then reboots then it then tries to come back on again and just keeps looping until I take either one of the ribbon tables out (doesn’t matter which one I take out it stays lit when either one is out). I’ve tested the backlights but all working with none shorting out, I’ve replaced the main board...2 Photos

by FZGHello!
I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.
Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.
I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?
Also, what mechanism is this?
Any feedback is appreciated!...05-06-2024, 07:16 AM -
by Bazfletch3Hi all
While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).
I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.
From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however... - Loading...
