Sony Bravia KDL46HX820 - Vertical stripey "haze"

    Hi,

I have a Sony Bravia 46" LED backlit LCD (KDL46HX820) exhibiting vertical stripes which on occasion look like "haze", mostly over the left hand side of the screen. The colour and positioning varies slightly depending on what is being displayed.

This fault displays on any input, even in the menus and internet tv. Most of the right hand side seems unaffected. When there is a drastic picture change (ie: exiting the menu), the lines introduced by the previous image stay for a while and slowly fade out. Some text from menus is almost still visible after exiting the menu, pixelated vertical haze, which fades out after a while.

I have checked capacitors, reseated all connectors between the t-con board and the panel, and between the t-con board and the main board. The TV recently moved house, however had been working fine for a few months in its new home before this issue reared its ugly head. Just in case, I have checked the panel from the front carefully with a bright torch, there does not appear to be any physical damage to the panel – although it is difficult to see it perfectly through the gorilla glass. I am suspecting it may be a faulty t-con board, but the “temporary burn-in” effect sometimes makes me think it might be a faulty panel?? Your thoughts, anyone?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Attached are a few images:
    * image01.jpg shows part of the screen not long after power-on, displaying the ABC iView menu. You can see some (but not many) red vertical lines through the image. The rest of the image is pretty good at this stage. As long as it has a constantly moving image its not TOO bad, but annoying nonetheless.
    * image02.jpg is on the input select screen, with an untuned analogue station displayed in the preview window, you can see the "temporary burn-in" effect from the previous ABC iView screen with some almost readable text still there. 20 to 30 seconds or so after that it did fade out completely.
    * image03.jpg is same as image02.jpg but a wider view to show the effect on the whole screen of the snowy preview window.
    * image04.jpg is back on the ABC iView screen a short while after being on the other picture for a while, you can see the left overs from the white snowy box in that part of the screen, still fading out.

What do you think? panel is stuffed? or is it worth trying a replacement t-con board?

I am just a beginner at this but sounds to me like a bad panel. Artifacts on the screen I think indicate panel problem.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

I've seen many posts about vertical "artifacts" on the screen and even when some people were thinking it was the panel, low and behold they swap out the t-con and it works again. A replacement panel is $900 (not worth it), a replacement t-con is $44. I was just hoping to get a few opinions before possibly wasting my $44.. and more time..

Well you can do what I do. I sell on ebay so if I get a board that doesn't fix problem I sell it back. There are some posts on cutting tabs that have fixed some bad panels you might want to search

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
            by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

            Sony KDL-40V3000 - Vertical lines
            by gpo23
            Hello,

            i order a t-con because i had bad colors on my SONY KDL-40V3000 :

With the new t-con the color are good but there are vertical lines on all the screen :

I've tried the old t-con and it returned to the initial issue (bad colors but no vertical lines)

Is there a way to fix the vertical lines on the new t-con ?

            Thank you for your help

            Hello,
i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
            i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?

Sony Trinitron (KV-20FV12) Vertical Deflection Stopped
            by motorahead
Hi everyone, I've been troubleshooting my 20" Sony Trinitron (KV-20FV12) CRT after it failed to show a picture. The standby LED is blinking 4 times, which according to the service manual is a failed vertical deflection via the self-diagnostic check during power up.

After getting the TV checked out by a technician and doing research on my own. The most obvious first step was to replace the IC502. I've done so with an exact NOS replacement with no luck. I've read a few suggestions to make sure the 12V supply to pin 2, but that voltage check would seem misleading? It seems if the...
