UN55H6350 no picture after start-up logo, won't turn off

I am working on Samsung UN55H6350 TV. I plug it in and the red stand-by LED comes on. I power up the TV (remote or buttons) backlights come on, I get the "smart TV" logo, it nicely fades away and then nothing. Backlights are still on, nothing is on screen and I can't do anything with the TV. I can't even power it off with remote or buttons, it has to be unplugged.

It is a main board related issue, possibly with firmware. Samsung firmware update for this model requires me to go through the menu to do it, which I can't do. I tried accessing the service menu, but the TV does not seem to recognize the codes for it.

Any tips or tricks to try out before I order replacement main board?
