LG 60PV450 Plasma - Bad Control Board maybe?

Thanks so much for this site! Can't tell you how helpful it's been!

I'm finally back to working on my "Dumpster-TV" which initially just showed a solid green screen, but after replacing the Main board it worked--more or less. It never turned on perfectly--it would require several unplug/replug/turn-on cycles until it "caught", then it was fine. It got worse and worse, until now it seems never to "catch".

The symptom is the red standby light which is solid when power is plugged in, goes to a slow blink when "ON" is pressed (and there's a "click". The display glows brighter as the red light power gets brighter--then goes dark when it goes out, and the cycle repeats indefinitely After the initial turn on there is never any further response from the remote or buttons--it needs to be unplugged/replugged to get back to standby (solid red light).

Never any sound of course--I don't think it's getting that far.

I figured power board, ordered and installed a new one--no change.

I tried removing the ribbon cable as Tom has suggested in many threads and jumped the logic board for the Test Pattern--and---I get a White - Black - Red - Black pattern. Those look fine, but there's no other colors(!) which makes me think this is a messed up test pattern--and possibly a bad logic board?

Since I already replaced the power board with no change--and am on my 2nd main board as well--and when it initially showed this behavior it was possible to get it to eventually work (and it worked fine until powering off in those cases) -- is that a logic-al guess? The logic card does have a flashing light - 1 long, 4 shorts I think, but from my reading those don't tell anyone much. Are there any other tests I can perform to try to nail it down? My wife is not amused I've already bought two cards and am still no where.Already reset all the cables and such--no change.

I attached all the relevant pics of the TV. Thanks a million!

I would start by freezing those grey can capasitors on the mainboard, one by one and see if tv turns on.
Freezing you accomplish by holding a can of air up side down and spray short bursts, you will see it freeze.

Interesting--I'll give that a try. I'm was assuming though, since the test pattern seemed weird (red and white only) - with the main board disconnected -- that there's something outside of it causing the problem. But I'm up for anything at this point!

Sooo... Gonna try this today (got to get some canned air) but... do you actually freeze the cap with power on to the TV? Isn't there a danger of moisture shorting something? From what I've seen, it looks like a big area of the circuit board gets iced.

I tried freezing some caps, starting with the bigger one's in the upper left of the picture, and no change, but it generates a lot of moisture around the area, which is scaring me that something's going to short, so stopping for now. I don't want to zap the board. I'm dubious it's the main board anyway because of the logic board showing the weird (red/gray) test pattern cycle with no other colors -without- the main board connected.

Does anyone know what the full test pattern should look like--I'm thinking it should be more than red/black/gray...? Keeping in mind that when the tv does finally turn on (or at least when it did--haven't gotten it to in a while) the picture was perfect, which I think puts the panel out of suspicion.

Is the generation of the test pattern and it's content solely the function of the logic board? Anyway thoughts on further tests of the logic board itself?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
            by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

            Assuming...

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

LG 60PK550 Logic Control Board EBR63450301
            by Yanleb
Hi all, I just want to share the repair of my 60PK550-UA TV set.

The TV set was powering on, just no image. After verification, nothing wrong on the YSus or ZSus boards. Nothing wrong on the main board either.

But I noticed that the LED was not flashing on the Logic Control Board. This is an EBR63450301. The LED is supposed to flash even with all the flat cables disconnected, with only the power cable attached.

All the voltages measured at the electrolytic capacitors on the board were good. From top left to bottom right:
            C57: 3.30V

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault
