Re: Yay a TNPA5105 Blown up Video Of Repair

Sadly Im jumping off this TNPA train, SS-TNPA5106-AB several parts shorted and SC-TNPA5105 shorted still. Keeps blowing random parts but everything in the control section is ok even with SC50 jumped so somethings breaking down when power is applied. Not wasting another penny on it as Ive changed alot of parts. I will just be replacing SS and SC in this set. The customer is part exchanging this Tv for one I have so its mine to keep. Will you updated in time to come when I change SS and SC.

The repair kit won't always repair your boards. I never repaired any of these older boards , only the 2011+ models which are also a pain in the ass to repair. My focus will be only on the newer models because repairing these boards costs to much...if you do repair it you won't make any money at all.....

Hope you will fix this tv!

could you of possibly brought fake parts? ebay seems hit and miss lately with a lot of parts.

Hmm ok , i now use "hkinventory.com" instead of eBay. Works perfectly and directly from the factory and real parts for a relative cheap price + dhl shipping.

You could have a missed some resistors that are short? Ps , some parts might show short in circuit when other parts are short. ( Which you probably already knew :p )

Re: Yay a TNPA5105 Blown up Video Of Repair

Sorted this bloody Tv at last !!!!!!!! I replaced the whole SS as buying all the pats for that is more than a used pcb is on ebay. Some smd transistors near Q661 were leaky I suspect they caused my repeat failures, changed all the parts that re-blew up again including the controllers and PC461. Replaced Q661 again tried the set expecting another bang.

But nope she fired on you wouldn't believe how happy I was to hear that sustaining buzz set has been on for hours now

Q661 heatsink seems to get quite hot I looked at how Q661 is hooked up and its straight in to VFG (floating ground) of buffers which will be pulling a huge amount of power upon panel reset as thats what its for. I added a thermal pad under it seemed to help a little but that thing gets burning hot so possibly Q661 is under rated and running in them conditions for years causes the failure of these boards ? Or I still have a fault and Q661 is being over driven and is about to blow again but I do remember on a TNPA5081 and another 5105 that I fixed, Q661 ran very hot and on every one of these boards I've done its always dead short so it seems to all tie back to that transistor.

I suspect this is the cause of the main failure Q661 is highly stressed and over time is wears out and then switches on at the wrong time sending a sustain pulse to the other parts and blows the rest out sad really as these have good natural looking image when they work deffo a design flaw though which is a shame. Will do a parts list soon but £90 odd in parts on this set plus £8 for the blown SS (still not sure how it blew as ERC isnt chained on these I dont think) but will do that later.
