Yay a TNPA5105 Blown up Video Of Repair :D

Got a Panasonic 50" PDP TX-P50S21BA which uses the TNPA5105 SC-Ydrive board. Fault is 4 Red Led blinks, found Vsus rail to be almost shorted to ground and the SC was the cause.

Doing a video on the repair of this board soon, already alot of parts are failed so this will be fun to do, I hate these boards when they fail they really do go out with a bang. Will keep you posted

I have exactly same set, a TX-P50S21BA--needed mainboard, intermittent green lines and flashes, green raster, general weirdness...

Checked down my (disconnected) workshop, but only had a main for a 42G20B (0901, the one with THX option and prof. range adjustments in pic settings)
    Original was a 0845 I think.

--Thought, what the hell, plugs are the same, both FHD, Bunged it in--it worked, picture correct shape/size but maybe brighter and more contrasty than it should be--dunno...

Only ran set for half hour--more important stuff needed doing--You know what customers are like when they aint gotta telly!
    TELEFIX

How PLASMA SCREENS WORK, X-SUS and Y-SUS what they do--

Lol you should tighten the screws on SC as I noticed they did seem rather lose on the transistors.

Strange, have not seen that at all yet and they have springwashers. Is this all of them or selected few?

Well, I've done one of these don't remember any real dramas. 70 quid, even if you earn 1:1 to our dollar seems an awful lot. Genuine Panasonic spares?

You can get away with 30F125 for the RJP3034, RJP56F4A for the DG502LW

Lol I would be very annoyed if it did blow, however my buffers are fine and the SS is too so only reason it would fail is because the panel is shorted which is almost impossible. Also dont be silly Im using gold plated solder which is the bulk of the cost but its more reliable Flocko trust me.

Reecey were did you get the gold plated solder (eBay)?,I think you must be talking borax (flux) and gold brazing wire, and with a flow temperature of around 750C your IGBTs will melt LOL

Flocko listen yeah, your wrong again. Its gold 100000% sure for the solder I use an arc welder to get it to flow the board basically looks like new after soldering it and its just better contact which means the screen is going to be stronger against impact.

Sorry Reecey I still think its borax. that is what I was told when asking about what (flux) to use to make gold flow. I am just passing on a little bit of my Knowledge. you know how I like to help if I can, and I am sure you would like me to share this with others as well, so take note the name of the flux is Borax Flocko

Also for this one I plan on adding some additional heatsinks onto the tiny SC ones help it cool a little better these get so hot when they are running which could be the reason for failure shame Panasonic

How many total parts usually on these boards need replacing? i guess as its a 50 in set £90.00 is still a very cheap repair in regards to the cost of a new tv of this size.

Vince about 20 including Igbts, resistors, controllers, Optos etc I got off lightly with this one I had a 42" 5105 which blew up so badly I just replaced it. Id like to know what causes such a mass failure though as it really is bad on these ones my guess is, one fet shorts takes out the controller and shorts the rest though that but its bad.

Not at all, if you do bang. This is a pain too as run this board with no buffer bang.

No not cheap you must have seen my listings for IGBTs are £5-6 and drivers £7.50 each so not hard to see were your money went. I think my listings are about ballpark for these parts over here (UK). I just list the left over parts I used in my older Panasonic repairs.(tried + tested) But when there gone I will not be replacing. If you can wait and can trust the sellers China is always the best option cost wise.
