anyway of limiting parts blowing if you have over looked one maybe using a bulb on one of the voltage lines (im sure ive read a post where alastair did this)

Yeah I could use something like a lightbulb to cause a voltage drop but its alot of faff or could use a bench supply and apply vs but lower and bring it up. Automotive section in college would let me use one so should be ok.

Shoulda given me a shout for that Transoptor--I got around 10 of 'em--Since I got them, Ive not seen many of this type SC board to do....

Used in this and the similar 5081

--Dont forget to check/change the 5V reg,--The smaller of the two near the transoptor, it supplies the inverter 703 and the smd trannies Q701/2, Q808 etc which are involved with the dreaded Q661....

Right all the parts come, however first test failed. Q661 RJP43 blew again as well as Q621 RJP3034 and the two diodes in series with Q421 D641 & D642 RF2001 Ahh time to keep checking but everything was fine with my meter so something else must have gone up.

This is fucking shit, at least £30 worth of damage done again. Might scrap it time to let go of some things I think.

You will know from what I have said before,if your repair is not a first time fix you will blow more and more parts with every fail. So the first fix parts roadmap will be added to, and then you are down to checking almost all the components on the Sc/Ss and in some cases the power board as well. This is why repairing the board is not always the best way forward, getting a S/H board when you can find one from a good source can be a good option as long as you check it out before fitting, if it fails your testing you just return it with no money loss.do as you say with P/X you will at least have a happy customer who will come back, and recommend you to others. Its always good to try component repair first. And when you do, you'd make some modifications to ensure longevity, like replacing bad caps with higher rated caps. It doesnt feel safe replacing board for board, knowing its gonna blow again cos its a common problem.

Seems that these chain the ERC which is a pain, I over looked it. Will update on what parts of X drive blew out could of been damaged beforehand which is what blew my repaired Ydrive. Some of the the transistors on the Xdrive were short but there was no short on Vs so this could of been why I missed them. Ahh why so expensive

The thing to watch for on the TNPA5106 SS,is the replacement SMD IGBTs that you use lots of fakes about as you know= BANG and back to the start you go, I wish I could be of more help, but when you climb on the Panasonic ride of pain it can be a rough ride. the one rule of dismounting is test, test and test again before power up

Yeah, the failure point of these is because of poor heatsinking/cooling is my guess. Shame this happenes with pannys as they look good when they work. My guess is the 30f toshishita fets fail first which kills the rest.

I not sure about your heat theory,as some Panasonic boards that have SMD IGBTs that use heat sinks still fail the same as the ones that dont. the problem as I see it is the use of groups or pairs of components to get a higher rating, then one fails to switch as fast as the others leading to a cascade of parts failing, this is why you must alway replace any blown IGBTs / diodes that are grouped as a complete set with drivers and transistor arrays. There are no short cuts to a good repair, and as you have found to your cost you will not get a second chance without pain

Unsure heat does wear them out faster though causing a possible delay in avalanche switching meaning one doesn’t switch fast enough as you say and dies. Odd though as transistors can last a very long time such a pain to fix.
