Toshiba 42x3030D - No Display, no Backlight

I thought the tcon was the issue but on more digging, I feel there is an issue with the inverters. Come to think of it, I've never tested these before. I got 24v going to the inverters (both) but testing the pink and white wires, I get 0v - 5vdc. Should I see a higher volts on all points?

My inverter is not the same as this post.



Is the inverter bad? What goes bad on these? The transformers themselves?

First of all big fail ! Never ever use your meter to measure the ccfl outputs it will blow it up if you did and the set/inverter intermittently come on lol Second what voltage is on the other side of each fuse ?

Like Reecey already said: DO NOT measure the pink and white cables, or any of the CCFL output, while running with the DMM on.

Does the backlight come on at all (for like 2 seconds)? Can you explain exactly what your TV does or doesn't do?

In order to check the transformers, compare the secondary's on each transformer output with the TV off and DMM in Ohms mode. If you find that one or more transformers are out more than 3%, then it is bad.

Ok more news. Bought two used inverters off ebay, assumed they are working, but same issue; no backlight, no slight flash of light? CCFL needs replacing?

Check if your main board is turning on the inverter (BLon).

Never mind! Made a silly mistake. The bought inverters do work. I've missed a cable that goes to the main board and all is well.

Glad you managed to find and fix the fault we have all made little mistakes like that before but the main thing is the tvs fixed.

Lol good to hear its going again, now you realize (hopefully) why its important to diagnose not throw boards at something
