I have a Hitachi P42H401 that had a power supply replaced about 2 years ago, it has worked fairly well but it was not used that much as this is a second TV mostly used for retro video games.
Now I suspect some water might have gone inside the unit (there was a leak in my ceiling :/ ) but I could not see any inside whatsoever, and at first it refused to turn on. so I took it apart and saw some caps had cold solders, so I re-solder those and now TV turned on but it went directly to "Cable" and after about 5 minutes it turned off and then on, front panel or remote control didn't work. I left it overnight as I was very tired, next morning I turned on the TV and its just a black screen, back-light turns on, but no OSD, no sound, no video, also it does not turn off anymore. Front panel and remote control don't seem to work, I can see the light flickering when I use the remote but the TV doesn't do anything.
I would rather fix it since the unit has plenty of inputs and supports retro consoles pretty well, something that most new TVs don't (why do they only have 1 composite/component shared input??)
I am a beginner at electronics in general, but I know little to nothing on TV repair so my question is that something that can be fixed or is the unit not worth it? I've read about the Y-Sustain and the Y-Buffer, but some others say it could be the main board (nothing for this TV in particular, just general info I've found).
any help/tips will be appreciated.
Thanks!
