    Panasonic TC-P50G20 Going Into Protect

Hey guys, not sure if anyone can lend some insight...

I have a Panasonic TC-P50G20 that one day not too long ago turned off and kept making a power cycle clicking noise. I went through the service manuals and determined that it was an A Board failure and replaced the A Board (TXN/A1MGUUS) which seemed to have resolved the issue.

Jump back to the present and two weeks ago I started noticing that utilizing HDMI 1 on the TV started displaying weird anomalies... screen flashes, etc. So I hooked up HDMI 2 instead and had no problems.

Here's my setup... The TV is connected via HDMI to the monitor out HDMI on a DENON Receiver. Connected to the receiver in HDMI port 1 is a Chromecast and port 2 is a PS4.

Yesterday, as I was watching some Game of Thrones via the Chromecast, the TV turned off and started making the power cycle click noise. I unplugged the set and let it sit for a few minutes. It powered back on. Played some more video and about 5 mins in and the same issue happened.

So I removed the Chromecast and tried video from the PS4. 5 mins in and the same thing happened. I switched out the monitor HDMI from the receiver to the TV and retried. Same issue.

Now I removed the PS4 and connected it directly to the TV. Retried video and no issue.

The HDMI cable from the receiver to both the TV and the PS4 are older cables (5+ years). They are monster brand and don't appear to be kinked or split.

Now that the PS4 is connected directly to the TV and I'm having zero issues, my question is... is it possible the receiver is causing this issue? Has anyone run into this before? Or is it possible that it is the old HDMI cables? Or is there some anomaly on the new A Board I purchased and installed?

I should note the PS4 was tried in HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 on the TV now with no problems.

I was going to buy two new HDMI and replace the PS4 to Receiver and Receiver to TV cables and retest. But I'm not sure if anyone has ever noticed their receiver putting their TV into protect and what to test for there...

Re: Panasonic TC-P50G20 Going Into Protect

Ive had problems with 'MONSTER' cables in the past....

Two cables to be exact, both HDMI. One went intermittent, the other wouldnt work at all.

    MEGA Expensive CRAP IMHO!

El-Cheapo cables from Home-Bargains have given years of service--With NO discernible difference in quality.

Its Digital signals after all, Not prone to noise or signal degradation over a simple cable, any that may occur is covered up/rectified by error checking etc...

NO point in mega-bux cables for HDMI. Its all marketing Bollox!

Not saying this is the cause of your issues, but cables could be worth changing just to confirm.

Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV Receiver Error Code -Protect-
      by CdDvdFlash
I have a Hitachi HTA-DD3W AV receiver and when I got it I tested it working fine with speakers but it needed a clean inside because it had signs of moisture in it but it was fully dry with bits of wood chips, I guess this was left in a shed so I fully disassembled it and cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol very carefully, some de-soldering was also needed but now its very clean, luckily there was no rust on any components and all the capacitors are fine with no bulging. When I turn it on I hear a relay switch on then a few seconds later another relay switches on or off and the display has a "-PROTECT-"...

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks
      by Andre Gilbert
Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Running out of Ideas, hoping someone smart can provide some for my ONKYO TX-SR353 Receiver
      by CDNBrewer
      Hello Everyone,

I have an Onkyo TX-SR353 Audio/Video Receiver (5.1 ch with HDMI) that I am having a really hard time diagnosing and I'm about to throw this in the junk and go buy a new unit that is on sale until the 7th.

      Symptoms:
      • Intermittent (part of the reason why i'm having a hard time isolating problem), sometimes will work for 10+h at a time without issue
      • Original symptom was wife reported loud banging noise (like someone was banging on the wall with their fists) from the LEFT SURROUND speaker and then the unit shut off.
      • I swapped the Left and Right surround
