    Samsung PN50C490B3DXZA Plasma TV Lines

I am working on a 50" Samsung Plasma TV about 5 years old. It has a bar that is prominent when you first turn on the TV that eventually fades and may disappear after some time. It is a vertical bar always in the same spot. Otherwise the TV operates as it should with all functionality. I have attached an image of the problem.

I have worked on many things but this is my first plasma TV. I am in the process of removing the Y buffer which is easy to access and sits vertical on the left side of the TV board. That is the easiest buffer to remove. Parts list shows a X buffer but its buried at the bottom along the support strip for the stand, etc. Looks to be a bit of a chore to remove. I cleaned the TV from dust, etc. and checks for visual problems and none found so far. No obvious blown ICs, burn marks, etc. I am going to check resistance on as many of the boards I can access. The X board, if it has one, is buried deep.

    Thoughts?

It looks like a bad tab on the panel. I have seen many with black lines. This is the first white line I have seen. Maybe tom66 will chime in.

+1 you can handle it with easy light push on tap to keep it stable no line there.

          RUBBISH!

Its the COF on the tab. Its Stuffed and no amount of shoving pressing or other pressure is gonna cure it!

Its a cruddy C Series Samsung PLASMA set--NOT LCD!!

            Thanks guys.

Well that is the worst of it when it turns on. After a couple of minutes it will dissolve and then disappear. Most problems that I have found due to bad ICs and broken bits the problem is steady.

Here are a couple of pics in better condition.

            Thanks!

Samsung QN75Q6FNA backlight no display, red LED blink 2x, fault in panel
              by howardc64
              • Prior owner tried a replacement main board. No difference.
              • Samsung 2x red blinking standby LED = panel fault
              • Jumpered FB_TRDY_1 (pin 1 CN1300 left. main tcon->left side buffer boards) and FB_TRDY_3 (pin 95 CN1301 right. main tcon->right side buffer boards) This allows testing individual T-Con (on main board) connection to panel on this Samsung. Found fault on left side (viewing from rear of TV)
              • Each side has 2 buffer boards, disconnected left side flex between 2 buffer boards. Fault is on the left most board.
              • Tape masking eventually isolated to CN1300 pin 15 (CKV4_GOA) Display

Verticle lines on Samsung PN42A400 Plasma TV
              by xNOTx
Hello 👋 I have a tv with these red lines. I've tried cleaning and re-seating the ribbon cables but no luck! Tried all 4 on the LJ92-01485 board and on the bottom of the panel. Do you guys think it's the board?|

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
              by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
              • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
              • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Samsung Plasma TV with vertical lines (model PN50B430P2D)
              by afex
This is my 2nd broken TV I'm trying to fix and haven't been able to figure out... currently going without any working TVs so am hoping to be able to fix one..

This Samsung PN50B430P2D Plasma has this big block of vertical lines which will fade in shortly after turning the TV on. The lines will sometimes flicker a bit or fade in/out and sometimes it just stays present. The length of time it takes them to appear varies, sometimes its a few minutes and other times it appears immediately after powering on.

I have attached an image of the TV with these bars displaying....
