Samsung PS50B430P2W strange fault

Looking for help, I have a Samsung 50" ps50b430p2w Plasma that has just developed the fault as seen in picture, its like this for a short time then cuts out.

Thinking this is the Y- Buffer at fault, anyone any ideas of how to check this? If i were to do a board swap out am i best replacing both YSUS and YBuffer with replacements or can I just replace one?

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a Ybuffer fault IMO, if the buffer was at fault normally on Samsungs you wont get any image. Looks to me like the control board has failed. Check in google how to run Samsung Plasma test patterns and run them this will give you a better idea on what is causing this.

Bordeaux-Plus Mainboard Caps strike again, I think

Prolly has crackling sound as well...

Reecey is right--Defo--NOT Buffers Or either SUS board. There is a vague possibility of Control-Board fault caused by the low-voltage caps on the PSU. They fail--and corrupt the firmware on Control-Board, just like the 42/50Q97 on which this set is based/similar.

Quick one AlastairE, I take it you would recommend changing the LV caps on the PS before fitting replacement control board.?

Definitely. If you dont--you could well kill another control-board--IF that IS the original problem.
--There's a group of 'em, lower L/H corner of PSU, Just replace 'em all.
There's also some (depending on which type PSU you have ) near the STD-By supply Tx.

Try heating up those boards one at a time for about 30 seconds with a hair dryer. If the caps are the issue you might see the set act normal after heating up the problem board. Good luck.

** UPDATE **
Turned tv on today with a source connected and don't seem to get a picture now, just sound and black screen glow with sparkles. But carried out a test pattern test anyway. >>>

Update on the current problem, jumped pins 3/4 on the 4 way header on the control board, the test pattern seems to run fine and goes through a set sequence (albeit a bit "Sparkly") white, red, green, blue, black through white, black through red, black through green, black through blue, black through yellow, black through white and then starts the sequence over again.

That normally indicates a bad main board. Try heating it up with a hair dryer. If you have failing caps or intermittent solder connections the board may perform normally after heating.

So--We back to mainboard that I mentioned a while back!

Replace the two 1000uF caps in the tinwork on mainboard, be sure to refit tinwork or the chips will overheat.

** Update **

Went over all voltages Va, Vs etc and made sure they were matching the sticker on the internal rear of panel. TV shows no picture although it glows and changes when the source video changes but no picture on screen just black/grey the sound is perfectly clear with no crackling. Also I tried adjusting the VR-FR to clear up the sparkling issue i have, (worked on a previous set i had)

I can replace any caps on the mainboard not a problem if someone could point to the correct ones if it is these (cheaper option) or I could buy a second hand mainboard and do a swap out (dearer option). Really want to be 100% these are causing the problem.

Tried the hairdryer method no difference.

I personally think chage the Mobo, try reflowing it or can you get us an image of the underside please ?

maybe alastair was refering to this but your board only has the tuner that you could could call tin work covers so im not sure if this board suffers the issues in this thread

Or what im thinking is the tantalum capacitor for the 3.3v reg is failing it causes weird glitches like this, but need to see if his board uses it.

That does make sence if the board uses it some good clear pictures of the underside of the board like you have said will help these Bordeaux boards do seem to be trouble some.
