This tv has a weird graphical problem shown in the picture on the left side of the tv. (i know the picture indicates the right side but i have the tv upside down since that's where the t-con and other display boards are.) My initial thought was a loose connection from the t-con board to the display board ( can't remember what they're called, it's the boards that are directly connected to the tv panel). sure enough when tugging on the cable on that side i would get a change in severity of the distortion. I did notice if i play more on the side that connects to the non t-con board, i get more of a response. This leads me to believe it has something to do with the connector on the display board. I also did swap the ribbon cables to see if i had a bad cable and it made no difference. Anyone have any thoughts as to a potential fix? I know generally when those boards get bad conenctions it's generally toast, but I didn't know with this type of connector if it would be any different. Or if it's something else im missing

Re: Vizio M420NV Display problem
Go squeeze or flex the frame a little on top, bottom and sides. The idea is to move the tab bonds and see if the screen is clearing up. You can also only hook up one ribbon cable from the LCD to the TCon at a time and see what that gives.
Does this go away after the TV warmed up, or is this always there? -
Re: Vizio M420NV Display problem
sorry i shoulkd've mentioned i did try messing with the frame a bit and didn't seem to make any difference. I haven't noticed a difference with time, I will check individualy pulling each ribbon cable for a difference and get back to you.Comment

Re: Vizio M420NV Display problem
Update: so there's a very smal lgap between the metal shielding and the lcd boards. I decided (yes i know this was crazy dangerous and probably stupid) i stuck a small flat head screwdriver and gently pushed down in various areas. Well i hit one area that i have pictured, and the distortion went out completely. It was then i noticed every so often a 1 pixel vertical line that stretches the whole screen randomly appears. So this was definitely a tab bond issue. I also know this i'm sure didn't permenantly fix the problem as the tab bond that was loose will come loose again and the problem will resurface. My question to everyone is, is there a way to 1. get a fairly reliable quick fix? 2. fix it permenantly with relative ease. 3 which is my better option?Comment

Re: Vizio M420NV Display problem
Success. I managed to "plug the hole" I fully reassembled the tv and still have a perfect picture. I know there's still the potential for issues to arise from this fix but so far so good. Thanks everyone for your help. I've seen a few people post on other websites about this exact issue so i'm hoping this can help people in the future

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.
