  • So I found a similar thread for the board I have. They included a boardview of the 2.0 board, whereas I have the 2.1 This is where things get a bit complicated. The layout is a bit different than mine. In the boardview picture I verified voltage / ground and the A/D_DOCK_IN voltage on the PL600x chips . The A/D_DOCK_IN leads to other chips that don't match my board. I included a picture of my charging area the best I could. There's a lot of residue from the adhesive. If I had to assume, the 2 black chips near the 2R2s are the MOSFETS.

I wasn't sure what I was looking for on the...

  • ASUS ROG GL752VW-IH74 No power

Hey All. I have the forementioned laptop that has no signs of life when plugged in. No charge indicator, no power lights, very dead. I got the main board out. I checked power going to the 9 pins on the board where the power jack connects. The first 4 pins read 19.4~ V, the 5th pin has nothing which makes sense since it's unused, the other 4 pins are grounded. I was trying to find a schematic to see if that's what it should be, but couldn't find anything. I also unplugged everything else from the board to try eliminating any additional shorting points. Does anyone have any suggestions on where...

Sounds like a plan. Thanks for that info. I'd hate to go into this immediately potentially frying my BIOS chip....

My apologies, my wording may have been confusing on my original post. When I mentioned where I've noticied people have been able to enter a blank password to get into Windows, that doesn't work for me.

Hmmm I guess I'm confused as to how I'd use it since I can't boot into windows or seemingly anything for that matter?

I'm assuming I'd need to obtain this CH341A programming tool since right now I don't really have any access to the laptop's bios? I think I get the gist of how the programmer works since I used a flasher to downgrade a PS3 a few years back and the concept seems similar....

    Small Update.

I've been doing some more research on the topic and I believe I've found my BIOS chip near the WIFI card. It's labeled mxic mx25l6473f.

I've been reading that flashing can be possible with a CH341A programmer. This is pretty new territory for me so I'm not sure what I'm proposing is possible for this situation or if it would even work.

  • ASUS GL503VM-BI7N13 Bios password lock

    Hello All,

I have the aforementioned laptop that I just purchased on ebay that was listed as having a BIOS password. Sure enough, on boot it requests a password. Here's the troubleshooting steps I've tried.

    1. just entering a blank password as I've seen where if it's an admin password instead of a user password, I can enter the BIOS as user and still enter Windows. I still receive Invalid Password, I'm assuming this means it's actually a user password or both user and admin password.

    2. I've removed both the main battery and CMOS battery, disconnected...

Sorry everyone, I hopped off this project for a while. So it seems I have two options, get an EEProm tool and put a new eeprom on the existing board, or just get a replacement main board. I imagine the price point for the tool and part will be relatively similar compared to just buying a mainboard on the cheaper end. I think it makes sense just to buy a replacement mainboard.

RJARRRPCGP - Hmm I'll have to keep that in mind, however the corrupt filing problem seemed to happen regardless of OS and has completely cleared since using the other port.

SMDFlea - I have the link to the charger i purchased on ebay. Hopefully that provides you with enough info. Otherwise I'll have to wait until I get home from work. Issue potentially solved. I downgraded the intel integrated graphics and audio drivers to the latest version on dell's site. Running the system normally is running much smoother. and it's gone much longer now and hasn't crashed.

Slight update. I'm noticing in normal mode, the computer is acting very strange. attempting to open things like device manager, explorer take several seconds to load. sometimes up to a minute. In Safe mode, everything seems to run normally. Also no crashes in Safe mode. I'm in the process of installing windbg to try and analyze the minidump files from the crashes.

I need to mention that I did use two separate SSDs. I orignally bought a 240GB on ebay then purchased a 480gb shortly after. So far I've had no corrupt drive problems. Although I'm now facing a BSOD Driver Power state failure shortly after booting. I'm not sure if it's related to the dead battery or aftermarket charger i got or if something else seems to be amiss. I can't get in to update the drivers because it ends up crashing too early. I'll attempt updating from safe mode but I was wondering what else could be causing this. The only change I've made...

Unfortunately not, the latest version is A12 and the version i have is i believe A08. I also can't flash it right now because the replacement battery I got is garbage and it won't let me flash without a battery at least 10%

However, updating from yesterday, I did put my SSD in drive slot 1 and have not had any issues at all. I would say it is either a BIOS issue or something with that port....

  • Alieware M17x R3 is mean

Hey Guys, I have the aforementioned laptop and so far it is the absolute worst free thing I've ever received lol. So when I got it, it was missing the charger, the battery was bad, the HDD(s) was/ were missing, the adapters and chassis were missing, No RAM, damaged keyboard, missing fans for CPU and GPU. I ordered a battery, RAM, a proper charger, an SSD, fan replacements and went to town on it. I verified it could post with some RAM i had laying around and a charger that wasn't quite to spec but worked. I threw everything in and well I've been chasing a weird issue for awhile. I installed windows...

"Unfortunately the freeze the EEPROM trick doesn't work 100%. The only way to really know, is to take the EEPROM off the board, read and store the contents, then write it full with FF's. Then read or blank check the EEPROM again."

Yeah, I unfortunately do not have an EEPROM tool at my disposal.

Did you try to update the firmware on this TV yet?

I have not. I could definitely look into how it's done on this TV. I know with most of the ones I've seen, you have to boot the TV then go into...

  • Proscan 50" PLCD5092a-b Restarting

Hi all, I have the aforementioned Proscan television. Basically what happens is the TV will boot up like normal once you push the power button, the Proscan logo shows then it shows the channel select and almost immediately you see the date in the corner reset ( I can't recall what to but I semi assume it doesn't matter).

The TV then freezes for a few moments then restarts. The Proscan logo shows up and the cycle continues pretty much indefinitely. I haven't attempted to let it sit for long to see if it would ever stop doing it. Once the Tv boots up, attempting to push any buttons...
