If a set was designed Properly and built to Last--It would cost 5 times the price it does, and no one would buy. Thats consumerism for ya!

Build 'em cheap--Who cares if they don't last--We'll sell ya another turd in a year or two!

        Use a 22nf

What voltage should the capacitor be able to handle?

In later later revisions of this board LG changed this cap for a through hole 22nf 50v ceramic cap.

I'd solder one of them to pads instead, should last longer as never seen the same problem with the revised board.

I changed the capacitor but i still have 3 volt rather than 18.
              Any more suggestions?

Hi all , i have a similar problem with model 50PB5600.

So i purchased this tv from a gentlemen as a repair project.
He has previously replaced the main board as the HDMI port got broken.

When i got home i started running some voltages tests and all the boards get the correct voltage.
When plugged in the Tv will go into stand by mode and with a remote will turn on.
The screen will then give a sharp bright grey flash and then will dim right down to a very dull grey.
You can see in the dark that the tv is still lit (although faint).
From here i can not turn the tv off with the remote.
I cant get any sound menu or any of the components from the main board to work.
The Logic board blinks 4 times then does another 4 blinks and so on ..

My first guess would be the main board that is causing the problem.
I get this model is a pain in the a**
Id like to repair but at the same time not waste money on differnt boards..

any advice or input would be great

                regards

Re: Lg 50" plasma no picture but sound

This is where I would unplug all LVDS cables from main board to logic board and enable the logic board test patterns to make sure that the logic board and sustain boards are working properly.
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Re: Lg 50" plasma no picture but sound

I pulled capacitor from unrepaired known good boards to measure accurately.
C205 is actually 1.5nf, 2.2nf also works good. I use 630 volt surface mount capacitor.
Same capacitor and failure on models 50PB560,50PB6600 and 60PB6600 Y-SUS Boards.
