Sony Bravia KDL-42V4100 washed out image

I just picked up a 2008? Sony Bravia that powers on with a green light and no errors but the picture is very dull and dark. Reset does not help. The video appears to be fine with no lines or ghosting but it is very dark and dull. Backlights are bright and working well. The image is the same regardless of input and even with no input the menus are also very dark. I've attached a picture.
Is the most likely culprit a bad main video controller board?

Check gamma voltages around AS-15, as this is a common cause of this problem

Have you unplugged the IR/Photo sensor after turning it on to make sure it hasn't failed. I had a few do this and needlessly ordered main boards to fix them.
