So now that my friends found out that I'm fixing tvs for my family's use they're all giving me their non-working ones sitting in their garages. Picked up this Samsung UN40C5000. It powers on with a picture on the left side but the right side is black. After reading the troubleshooting guides I moved the LVDS cable and it brought back one fourth of the blackness to vertical colored lines. Based on what I read, if ANY change occurs, then the problem is the cable. But I also read and saw pictures in the troubleshooting guide that says if you have colored vertical lines it could be the TCON board or the main board IC. Previous owner says the TCON board was replaced prior to giving it to me but they didn't want to pursue paying for it to get fixed any more. So I want to buy an LVDS cable and then go from there. If the new cable gives me back the full right side with colored vertical lines, then I assume I then need to replace the IC. At least I'm hoping that's how it goes. Pulled out the LVDS cable and the number is BN96-13171G. I cannot find a replacement anywhere. The stamp on cable says AWM 020706 105C VW-1 HF -F-. I couldn't find in any of the guides on how to identify a generic replacement cable. Also, cannot locate a service manual ANYWHERE. I have a request in at eserviceinfo for it. So my question is how do I identify a generic replacement to purchase?
Any guidance would be appreciated as I feel I have exhausted all my resources.
Thank you so much!
