First let me just say hello to all and glad I found this site. Also I Searched posts and threads with no luck on this TV. This Is a TV someone was going to throw away in 2013 and I now have it. When I got it TV would power up and cycle several times sometimes locking up having to be un plugged and other times would go back in standby mode. I changed the five bulging caps on the LED power supply board. TV would then come on but would take 2-5 tries always going back in standby mode. Then it got worse and would take sometimes more than 10 times but always going back to stand by mode with red light. So the TV hardly ever got shut off and the red phlat led light went out and I changed that out. Took many tries but came back on and watched it over a year again hardly ever turning off cause it would take so long to turn on. Now the TV will not come on. The sound comes and goes while it goes thru the cycle trying to start up but goes back to stand by mode with red light. While cycling the green light , led, blinks 27 times with a long pause 14th time with green light staying lit then finishing out the 27 blinks followed by a minute or two of nothing then back to standby with red light. Suspecting the big caps were bad I heated them with hair dryer and TV started right up first try faster than ever has. I ordered the repair kit of 9 caps from shop jimmy and installed them on psb. The psb has 11. Did not get the two middle caps by silver heat sink and the two replacement big caps are 200v 470uf not the 200v 560uf shop jimmy said would be fine. I really thought this would fix it but doing same thing. It will still come on blowing hot air with hair dryer towards/on big caps but now it does not stay on as long. Sometimes it distorts and picture freezes up and sometimes goes back blank/black. Sound works good until it shuts itself off back to standby mode. Once I changed channels while picture was distorted with crazy lines and had sound from channel I changed to but frozen pic from previous channel. It is hooked up thru AV receiver. Im wondering if the two middle caps that I didn't get or replace could be it just getting heat from dryer when I thought I was heating big caps or maybe even something heating up on digital/analog board directly under it. Im going to try to include some pics of both boards and the Pic of TV.

Re: 2007 Samsung LED DLP HLT6187SX
in the 3rd pic was the first led psb I replaced caps on but not the one by itself or the two little ones only the 5 in a row which got me over a year of working tv
in the 8th pick is main psb I changed 9 of the 11 caps shop jimmy sent in kit that did not include the two in middle of board by silver heat sinkLast edited by MEM1971; 12-09-2015, 12:25 AM.

Re: 2007 Samsung LED DLP HLT6187SX
Ok all vertical caps replaced. Tv will not show picture unless i heat main psb up with hair dryer. Thing is the digital board/analog board is directly below psb and could be heating something up there. As soon as it cools off the tv goes blank again and shuts off. If i put fan on board after heating up with hair dryer the tv will shut off even faster. I do not have the abolity to test the individual caps, fets, transistors, etc but am working on it and plan to buy esr and tester soon. Im leaning more towards something wrong on digital board now though. Just the way the blue screen stayed on for a bit but the menu and no signal boxes disappeared before blue screen and tv went off. All it does is cycle thru like its suppose to going back to standby mode. There is a faint backlight the brightens and dims a little at first when press power button. Its weird! While hot it stays on but when cools off it shuts down. I dont think im getting the actuall board and pieces hot enough for the wiring and/or solder connections to make contact while hot and then cool off. There are several different style capacitors, transistors, fets and stuff but dont know enough about it. If i knew which one and could find it to replace i would. Any ideas?

Re: 2007 Samsung LED DLP HLT6187SX
There is one 1000mf 35v vertical cap on the digital/analog board right where the plug is from power supply. It is possible that this cap was getting heated up with hair dryer and allowing tv to come on. It does not visually look bad. It is the only certical cap of these styles that hasnt been replaced and while heating with hair dryer is too far away from DMD board or led power supply board. There is one 100uf 450v cap that has not been replaced on LED PSB but since the heat is so far away i dont think this is my problem although i do have one ordered. Im worried about gaking the cage and digital board out to replace that one 1000mf 35v cap. As i dont have static mat with ground cable and this cage was put around this one board for a reason.Last edited by MEM1971; 12-10-2015, 07:49 AM.

Replaced the one 1000uf/35v cap on main board. I been calling it digital board. The board with all the inputs. Tv is doing same thing. I think my problem is on this board but im not a tech. Rplaced both power supplies. Replaced the red led phlat light. Have had good luck keeping it goin until this.

I see that you have done a lot of "something"... but have you checked the voltages on the board in question to see if they are there and if they changed after you have done your "heat experiment".
Lastly, have you looked at the service manual for the unit?Last edited by budwich; 12-22-2015, 09:49 AM.

Yes a lot of guessing. lol. No but have been researching and want to learn how to do it and waiting on a tech friend to loan me his testers for the weekend now. I really think a BP96-01833A board replacement would fix it if could find a good board. So far found one and its a little pricey at $169. Also waiting on fets I ordered to try the repair t-con and removal of panel tabs on vizio 701e.

Re: 2007 Samsung LED DLP HLT6187SX
well I would certainly do some testing before "punching" out $169. I am sure a service manual will quickly point you closer to what you need to do / look at and for sure ensuring that proper voltages are generated and distributed is a wise first step in the learning process.
I think on my samsung dlp (newer version) there are indicator lights on the driver boards to tell you if the LEDs are starting properly. Since you have had one dead, I would certainly make sure that it hasn't taken out the driver as I suspect that would cause things to not run.Last edited by budwich; 12-22-2015, 01:31 PM.

Re: 2007 Samsung LED DLP HLT6187SX
Main Board 01833A finally showed up on eBay along with 3-4 more last week and I got one and my HLT6187SX/ is working better than ever has! It should with new main PSB and LED PSB , red phlat, and new power cord. This TV is not as bright as the new led TVs but its hard to beat the reds, blues, and green colors this TV has! I really like itLast edited by MEM1971; 02-25-2016, 03:27 PM.
