Hoping someone can give me some advice, i ve been using a hot air station for a few years now, no issues soldering ic's,mosfets,transistors. Im going to be soldering a surface mount 48 pin chip to a main board for a repair. Ive been practicing on faulty boards and cant seem to get the solder to flow to each individual pin without clumping the pins together. Im using low temp solder paste, rosin solder flux, and about 400 degrees F. Each time I attempt this most of the legs get soldered individualy but there is always a few that clump or get a puddle effect, and I have to use the copper to separate them.. The videos on youtube make it look effortless with the required tools. What am I doing wrong?

i flood the chip with solder and flux and use hot air to remove, then use iron to solder in place, run solder with the iron down the sides of the chip useing flux, and then use 5mm braid to remove the non wanted solder from between the pins/legs, and i use a USB microscope to check -

Hi everyone,
I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.
Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times... -
Long story short:
- dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
- gave the computer to his son a couple years later
- son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
- too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)

I have a very strange issue with the BIOS SPI chip of an ASRock B650M PRO RS motherboard.
The SPI chip is an Winbond 25Q256JWEQ model (1V8).
The motherbaord doas not POST - it lits only CPU and DRAM EZ Debug Leds, and stays that way forever.
The Flashback function of the motherbaord is also not working, despite all instructions followed correctly - I'm 100% sure of this.
I have then desoldered the chip, backupped the contents, and tried to earease the chip in order to program stock image, but the chip is locked by status registers SREG2 (TB) and SREG6... -
Hello everyone,
I’ve run into an issue after working with a laptop BIOS chip and wanted to get some advice.
I desoldered the BIOS chip using hot air and then read its contents with a CH341 programmer (only a read, no write or erase was done). The .bin file was not modified at all. After soldering the chip back, the laptop now no longer powers on.
For clarity:
No surrounding components were touched during the process.
All pads were checked with test points and were confirmed OK.
