Pioneer PDP-435PE , Panel or receiver fault?

Hey guys.

I got this Pioneer PDP-435PE for free.
It comes with a receiver ( with hdmi ) but im not sure if its the right one. ( PDP-R04E )

The receiver has been opened before so its probably in tamper state? I used some tape to hold down the tamper switch.....
When i plug in the mains , the receiver starts and shuts down. TV stays in standby mode.

When i remove the 2 cables from the receiver , the tv turns on and blinks a green/red square on the screen.
When i use a DVI to HDMI switch and use a HD receiver, the picture turns into what looks like a input fault?

How can i make this work? It would be ok if i can use it as a monitor for my pc!

Anyone have any experience with these receivers and how to repair them?

Here are the pictures.

So without input the screen looks perfect. With dvi to hdmi input its not good.
It DOES show the menu from the HD receiver. But the picture that it has to display shows as pic 3.

Ok , was thinking the same here but why is the picture so bad with a standard hd receiver and the picture ok with the red/geen squares?
