Hi all, having issues with my tv and not sure what to do now.......call the repairman? I replaced two capacitors that i thought might be bad but apparantly weren't! Do bad caps always have a buldge on top?

Heres the issue:
My tv turns on and turns off several times before it finally is on and running! As it turns off and on the picture gets better and better each time until it is correct and then it stays on. I am not sure how to check which component is screwed up! Anyone want to help me diagnose the problem??

First of all we need quality high res pictures straight shot of your boards, so we can see something. Capacitors dont have to have a bulge to be bad. There are other reasons too!

In your case try heating the boards up with a hair drier and turn on the tv and see if your problem stops. i hope you have a digital meter to measure voltages on the power supply.

Capleaker, the power supply board correct?? Or the main board??

CapLeaker, i put the hairdryer to the main board for 30 seconds, maybe a minute and it turned on like its suppose to...........what do i check now? That is the first time in 3 months that the tv came on correct!

now you need to narrow it down with the hair dryer what area of the board makes it start straight away this may take a few attemps then we should be able to see what needs to be changed etc

ok, so i need to concentrate on one area! Any suggestions as to what area to start with first?
