Yes disconnect the z-sus form the power supply and power on the tv.

When I did that, the TV came on, but with a red/violet snow on the screen. Can't get a good picture of it at all. Was I supposed to take it out of test pattern mode?

Yes take remove the test patterns and plug everything back in excluding the zsus.

At this point (unless someone else has any other ideas) you would need a scope to determine the exact cause.

The red/purple haze is a good sign that the lower f boards are working.

If you don't access to a scope I'd try changing out the control board as its probably only a few £€$.

In my opinion you have either a faulty control board or a faulty y-sus.
I'm not a big fan of these ysustain with integrated buffer board.

You could check the buffer ICs for shorts. Although, in my experience with Similar aged Samsung plasmas the voltages wouldn't stay up if you had a shorted buffer IC.

The control board is usually the cheapest board to replace.

Also can you upload a couple of pictures of the screen when you have the z-sus disconnected - And the test pattern/power supply jumpers inplace.

Are the buffer ICs tested by putting one lead of multimeter on ground, and running down the 6 connectors, on both sides of the connector? I had also seen that quick test as well. It's worth mentioning that the screen looks exactly the same in test mode, or not in test mode. Does that pinpoint the control board?

I'm going to look into finding a control board in the US. Thank you again for all your assistance.

Also, with the tests, can we rule out the panel itself? Or is it still in the running for being bad with the red snow?

i believe that you should check the buffer ICs with black prove to Floating Ground.
And then, as you mentioned, run the red probe down both sides of the connector looking for low resistance.

Floating ground should be marked somewhere on the ysus, maybe f-gnd or fl-gnd etc

Update the thread if the control board fixes the problem in the event someone else has a similar issue.

I'll check to see if I can see floating ground. The multi-meter I have is on the lower end. Just an FYI in case. Do I perform the continuity (beep) test, check normal resistances, or diode resistance? Sorry for all the questions. All the control boards I can find in the US with guarantees that they are tested are $70 or higher. Don't know if they are worth it to me tho. What do you suggest?

And of course, if/when I find a fix, I will post the solution so someone else doesn't have to go thru this.
