Pioneer Led Tv Based Off Umc Chassis WTF ?

Came across this on the net the other day I was only able to get the one picture but, its a Pioneer brand (yes the same company that made the Kuro plasmas the best of the best!) but however looking at the design of the bezel its a fucking Umc wtf ? I cant find any more info but are Pioneer rebadging cheap ass led tvs ?

Pioneer aren't rebadging directly, but they sold their name to a company that does that (IIRC it's Thomson Electronics) - I thought they were Chinese though.

Pioneer's TV business was killed off in 2010, along with PROJECT KURO, so nothing beyond then is related to the real Pioneer of Japan.

my thinking these days, buy a cheap chinese tv.
you get a good deal and it has nice features.

buy an expensive "brandname" tv,
you get a cheap chinese tv with some features like mp4 playback and external usb pvr disabled for license reasons!

my thinking these days, buy a cheap chinese tv.
you get a good deal and it has nice features.

buy an expensive "brandname" tv,
you get a cheap chinese tv with some features like mp4 playback and external usb pvr disabled for license reasons!

The fun thing about the old Vestel sets is you could go into the service menu and enable all the features they shouldn't have. Like Dolby Surround, DTS-HD decoding, etc. Just by turning on some options. Now, it's all read-only.

Probably the best you can do is buy a good used set - it's not as if the features have changed drastically. Not to mention, 4K isn't really that big of a deal to most people given it doesn't make sense until you get to 70"+. Sharp isn't too bad in that area, but yuck, LED backlit. No thanks.

Too true older Vestels arnt too bad when it comes to the features like that and the main-boards were fairly reliable. The led ones are a different story just junk software is slow and barely functional and the flash Ics are dying like flys nasty led crap.

i have an older vestel / toshiba running 24/7 without problems
nice picture, good sound (has reasonable speakers for once!)

probably the thing in it's favour is it uses an external psu.

Yeah fair enough, a family member of mine has a 32" AS rebadged vestel from 2006 and its never messed up once been a solid tv. Guessing its a 17PW15-7 or something, but its been used almost daily for hours the older ones arnt too bad tbh.
