Right. You don't want to end up with this. Now it's just a shop tv. Rubbish with no back anymore.

i definitely don't want that happening with my tv. i wonder if the design is the same with all 50pa5500 or if they have solved the problem in later sets. there seems to be a slight clearance in my set between the frame and the cable. didn't remove the frame to check the plastic tabs though.

after checking the posts regarding this ribbon issue now I am more scared. i hope it is not hard to remove the bezel. i have to find out how i can trim the plastic and avoid it from contacting the cable or how i can insulate the cable. (if it didn't start causing problems already). I will work on it this weekend. thanks again for warning me.

I removed the back cover and checked the suspect areas and there is a mm clearance between the black tape and the ribbon cable.

The space in the bottom side of the tv is tighter maybe ½ a mm of clearance between the tape and the cable but still the tape is not touching the ribbon cable along the side.

I got more curious and wanted to remove the frame (or bezel) from the chassis but got scared when the glass under the bezel was parting with a cracking sound. (it was the plastic making the noise but it scared me for a minute thinking I might have cracked the screen)

Probably i was doing it all wrong, the screen was laying on the couch, and I removed the bottom four screws which were connected to the plastic bezel, and was carefully pulling the chassis up holding the two steel bars in the center left and right.

now the clearance in the bottom even seems tighter after i tried to remove the bezel and gave up half way and put it back in.

Do I have to place the tv on its stand on a media table and just pull the plastic frame (or bezel) away?

Yeah you can only perform this operation with the TV face up not down. Plastic frame should literally just pull away from the panel remember there is going to be the outer glass still attached. It's been a few months for me make sure there's no screws holding the plastic bezel to the metal frame first
