I found this TV in a dumpster this week. It would flash at startup and then had no picture. I opened it up today and found three bad strips. My method is to record a video of the flashing LEDs and then take a screen shot of the paused video showing the LEDs lit. Once I identified the bad strings, I got to work. I was hoping to be able to get at lease one good string out of the three bad ones. It didn't work out that way. Fortunately, I parted out a 42" LG LED TV years ago and still had the LED strips. The 47" strips were made up of two strips, one with 4 LEDs and one with 5 LEDs. The replacement strips were made up of two strips with 6 LEDs each. I removed one or two LEDs from each of the 42" strips based on what was being replaced. I then bridged the pads from the missing LED with solder. Lucky for me, these replacement strips plugged right in just like the old ones.
This TV is really nice. I'd like to keep it for myself, but it's going to my brother-in-law.
