Panasonic Plasma TC-P50S1 missing 7/8 of picture.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look at to narrow down the failed board or component of the above mentioned Panasonic plasma TV? I've attached a photograph of what is seen on the screen. Just a band across the top is working. The picture portion of what is shown looks fine. On screen menu etc. seems to look fine, at least what you can see of it. The rest of the screen is blank. Ignore the pixelization in the photo, it is just remnants of compressing the photograph.

There are no flashing diagnostic codes of the Power LED, and the green LEDs on the SC board (D16583) and SS board (D16253) are both on.

    Thanks in advance.

    A little uncanny, yesterday.

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=48603

Hazard a guess maybe buffers or potentially SC. the G10 is related to this model i.e same gen,

I'd Do the usual cable checks, reseat maybe the sc to buffer leads, and maybe try getting into service mode and select test patterns in aging which will be tricky since you can't see the menu

reseat the ribbons at the A board

possibility of A board as well, that's a tough one.

I would say SD and SU boards.

I would say SU board. Possibly SD but unlikely.
The buffer data signal chains to each board, so if one IC goes bad the whole lot will go bad.

Thanks for the suggestions. I re-seated the cables as suggested with no change.

The test points all down the SU and SD boards all have a similar signal trace on an oscilloscope. I've attached screenshots of the TPSC1 signal with a fully black screen and a white screen input into the HDMI input. The traces on the SD and SU boards all look similar to this, including the HV screw connectors.

          Rick.

The period of interest is the portion just after the first reset wave (in 1st pic) - it should be around -180V then swing +140V above this negative DC portion for a SMALL portion of the wave (1/1080 to be exact for a 1080p panel), this is the ROW SELECT signal.
If the row select is missing, that portion will not light up.

Excellent description, Thank-you. The -ve going row select on the first chip's test points look good, it is non-existent on subsequent test points. I guess that means I should go looking for an SU board.

Thanks all. I was able to find an SU board at a local TV repair shop. This fixed the problem.

                      Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks

                      Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.

When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on...

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
                      by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
                      by FZG
                      Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

                      Also, what mechanism is this?

                      Any feedback is appreciated!...

Panasonic TH-65FX800A backlight LED's working but picture is very dark
                      by Bazfletch3
                      Hi all

While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).

I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.

From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however...
