Sanyo DP42647 2 seconds to black sorta...

Was given this tv by a friend after he was unable to get it to stay on. It was his bedroom set and he said it was rarely ever used . I have read the 2 seconds to black threads but it acts a bit different . It turns on and acts normal for about 4-5 seconds then shuts down. The green power led does go out too . I'd like to get it going but I'm not really sure which board would be at fault ? Would it be the power supply board or the video board ? I assume it shutting itself off is some kind of fail safe mechanism ? Thanks for any help.

Ummm... I'd be checking the STBY and the PSon voltage and see what happens to them once the TV turns itself off.

Could you be more specific on how to check ? I have both a digital and analog meter . What would be the correct voltages I'm looking for ?

post a nice sharp straight pic of your power supply and another one from the PSU where the wires go from it to the main board. We need to see the name of the pin outs.

STBY is usually 5V and that is always there on the PSU regardless if TV on or off. That goes to the mainboard and once you turn the TV on, a PSon signal (should be more than 2.5V) comes from the main board back to the PSU and turns all of the PSU on.

You have to figure out, if the PSon signal disappears or not.

So I've had this monitor for probably a decade now, and it's finally starting to fail. Began with a little sporadic flickering, then eventually started going black (power LED stays blue, can still see image on screen with flashlight). A power on/off fixes it for a bit, but then it happens again. Once it got to the point I was dealing with this every few minutes, I opened it up and just replaced all the caps (minus the big one) on the power board with new Panasonic ones. All the old caps tested fine on an ESR meter, and this worked for 5 days. But the screen just went black again today, so...

LG 37LG5020 and the tale of 2 seconds to black.
                  by DrankinSAW
I bought an LG 37LG5020 with a very strange issue.. it turns on, the display looks fine, but still, after 2 seconds, the TV shuts the backlight off..

However, if i leave it plugged in for 20-40min.. the time it takes to shutdown the backlight, doubles (to 4 seconds)..

I bought a new inverter, set to arrive on December 13th
