    Panasonic TH-P50ST30S - red LED 7 blinks

    Hi guys,

My Panasonic PH-P50ST30S bought in 2012 died last week.

Had been seeing odd black lines around the middle of the screen flashing and then going away for a couple weeks so knew something was going wrong.

Then the screen went off while the kids were watching last week, all we got was the red LED flashing 7 times when trying to power it back on again.

Panasonic came out to diagnose, and replaced the SC board, which fixed the 7 blink error, the screen comes on now but has a strange multi coloured flickering horizontal line just below the centre of the screen. Attached some pictures.

Panasonic are going to bring out some new SD/SU boards today, or does this look more like the panel is dying?

As am paying Panasonic service, for out of warranty repair looking to cut the loses if its really a lost cause.

Has been a great TV and sad to see it go, seeing as cannot buy a new Panny plasma anymore

    Thanks guys!

TW is your guy for these sets... Though I have worked on a few of these sets myself.

IGBTs generally fail on the SC hence having the 7 blink error.... I have reworked one and after connecting had a very similar issue... Turned out I had snagged the ribbons when reconnecting the board... After reseating them it cleared

Ouch, paying panasonic. Hope they're lookin after you because part of the issue we suspect is the wrong screws and that they work loose with bad earthing which may explain the flickering. May have saved it back then with those being tightened. we have had a couple of people with the issue here and managed to rectify it before they blew.

If they did not touch those buffers, that could very well be a bad buffer and best to replace it if it is before it damages the Sc.

      that's just my opinion
