This TV was under warranty, i was reimbursed the value of the TV, now i want to try to repair it as the warranty company gave up on it and said i could keep it.
I have no access to the service manual, sony sells it for 20 bucks though.
The unit would turn on then 2 seconds it would turn back off into standby and blink 6 times.
The repair company came out and replaced the power supply, plugged it in, same 6 blinks.
Left the new PSU in and placed a new main board in, fixed issue.
Now the unit has a "dead" led or dark spot in upper left hand corner.
As well when the screen first turns on there is a unsettlingly loud coil whine coming from the area the dead led is in. Upper left from front.
I assume it is a dead led, i would like to try to repair it.
What should i expect?
I have a fieldpeice HS36
and a fluke 81438
MY soldering iron broke and i ordered a new one should be here in a week. I have a solder hand vacuum.
I also have access to a heat gun.
Im new to the tv repair side of things, ive read up a bit on where to obtain small components here and there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I figured instead of derailing superg's post i would begin my own.
