    online database for faults

I was wondering if a database exists for common faults. I imagine a website where people can put in the board number, fault description and parts they replaced to make it work again.

For the gurus here maybe less useful even though they also will cross a hard to troubleshoot board once in a while...

I mean if a lot of techs create such a database it could be a great help to all of us. Until now I did'nt really keep record, but I don't do that many repairs either.

What do you think? Would such a database make sense? Would you put in your data? Instead of sweeping tons of old forum threads on the net it could be much faster if there was a centralized database.

    Laptop/motherboards database
    by Dreigas
    Hello,

Does anyone know, from where shops get information about laptops? Does any paid/free database exist?

I'm very interested in the database, which should have a phone/laptop model number and which motherboard they have inside. Also will be good about product specs (but this is not very important for me).
Or maybe you just know some websites, which can provide this information? Just enter the laptop model number and I will get the motherboard model number.

Thank you for any info and your time!

    Lenovo Yoga 500-15ISK several faults
    by s_henya
    Hi guys,

Anyone ever worked on this board before?
Few issues im trying to resolve:

    1. Laptop will not power up without main battery connected (missing 3.3v line)- measuring on the 3.3v coil i can see 0v but for split second it jumps to 3.3v and drops again.
Is this laptop supposed to power on only with battery connected?

    2. Battery voltage + line is getting 19v, for my experience 7.4v battery isn't meant to be charged with main line voltage- is this normal?

    3. No display on laptop screen, if i disconnect the LVDC cable and connects...

820-2610-A Sys onewire help, no green light. Please help from the gurus
    by lcdcaps1
    Hi

I have an 820-2610-A motherboard that has no green light.
I have noticed is when I do a SMC reset the light on the Magsafe blinks.
From My understanding, the sys onewire circuit is responsible for the green light on the magsafe
The sys onewire circuit on this model and others is more involved
I was hoping if anyone knows about this and how it works, can reply and let me know
I know this is an old model but I am sure there are people who still works on these or knows about them

Acer Chromebook CB3-431, N16P1 - Multiple Hardware Faults, also Schematic Please?

    History:

Arrived no power, was told screen flickering for months then died.

Found LCD cable shredded, shorting 3.3v LCD line and possibly 13v Backlight line may have shorted to 3.3v as multiple things fried. It is my understanding that if you shorted the 3.3v line then the 3.3v regulator would shut down.

I found main fuse blown so I think 13v line was shorted, the 3.3v regulator had a dead short from it's 13v input to ground so now 13v line and 3.3v line on motherboard are shorted to ground.

Also high side switch for 3.3v LCD line was...
