    Samsung PS43D450A2 with arcing/crackling sound under X-electrodes

    Hello Everybody

I have this PS43D450 Samsung Plasma with a strange problem which I haven't found a solution or even some mention of such a problem on the forums/internet.

This TV when powered up, starts arcing (under the X-Electrodes or X-Flex cables) with loud popping sound and there does not appear any picture or even glow on the screen. It just keeps arcing. The Arc travels from panel glass to the back metal chasis, under the X-electrodes.

I disconnected all X and Y electrodes (flat brown cables) and turned on the TV. In this state, I have observed the following.

    1) Green LED on control board blinks every 1 second (which seems normal)

    2) VS, VA, VSC and VE are all normal (as per panel sticker)

    3) Then I turned the TV off and connected X-Electrodes and only one (top) Y-Electrode and then ran the test pattern.

    4) Test pattern started on upper portion but many pixels were not coming ON. After few minutes of running the test pattern, many pixels started turning on.

    5) If I attach more Y-Electrodes, the arcing starts under the X-Electrodes. With only one Y Electrode, there is no arcing except when you power up the set and before the start of test pattern.

What could be the possible reason ? I haven't seen this kind of problem before nor anybody else mentioned this kind of issue with a plasma TV.

Help and guidance will be highly appreciated.

IF you take the Panel Out of the Plastic case--You'll see that the tab has failed where it attaches to the glass, the copper/gold/grey of the tab/glass/conductors will appear burned....

Ive seen this Twice--Both sets--On the same day--Although, its Not a very common fault--That was a VERY bad day!

Unrepairable unfortunately--Although--As its on the X-SUS side, all the conductors are connected together, so you Could try conductive paint, but doubt it would last long with the extreme currents passed....

Thanks - under the circumstances, that makes perfect sense.

You have seen two such sets while I got 3 of them. All Samsung, apparently having same fault i.e. tab bond failure on X-SUS side.

I will take out the glass panel tomorrow and do a close up examination. Will post what I find there.

      Thank you again.

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
        by jchang
        Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

        Symptom:
        No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
        No sound at all.

        What I tried:
        1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
        by Ierwin
        Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
        by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
