Re: Capacitor value needed
From the pictures of the board (through Google), it looks like an 0805 (2012 metric size) with at least few uF value (may be between 1~10uF). For a more reasonable guess, can you measure the adjacent capacitor which looks like similar to C917, if you have got a capacitance meter?
For voltage rating, measure the voltage present on the pads of removed C915. You will need a new capacitor which is at least 1.5 to 2 times the voltage at the pads.

Re: Troubleshooting on TV components
I will recommend a used Fluke 79 or 77. I have been using these for years. They are excellent.

Re: Samsung PS43D450A2 with arcing/crackling sound under X-electrodes
Thanks - under the circumstances, that makes perfect sense.
You have seen two such sets while I got 3 of them. All Samsung, apparently having same fault i.e. tab bond failure on X-SUS side.
I will take out the glass panel tomorrow and do a close up examination. Will post what I find there.
Thank you again.

Samsung PS43D450A2 with arcing/crackling sound under X-electrodes
Hello Everybody
I have this PS43D450 Samsung Plasma with a strange problem which I haven't found a solution or even some mention of such a problem on the forums/internet.
This TV when powered up, starts arcing (under the X-Electrodes or X-Flex cables) with loud popping sound and there does not appear any picture or even glow on the screen. It just keeps arcing. The Arc travels from panel glass to the back metal chasis, under the X-electrodes.
I disconnected all X and Y electrodes (flat brown cables) and turned on the TV. In this state, I have observed...

Re: Samsung PS43F4505AWXXE no picture/sound
Apparently in the new 'F' series plasma, Samsung has embedded the main + control board into one single board. That's why you don't see a separate control board.
Your board is available here: http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn94-06194x-main-board.htmRe: Samsung PS43F4505AWXXE no pictur...vailable here:

Re: Samsung PN43D450A2D help needed
This is an interesting case. I think for some reason, your panel has started drawing more current which the power supply and X/Y sus boards can not provide thus triggering some protection or as tom66 has suggested that it might be PSU not able to supply the demand.
Another test you can try is to remove all the Flat cables (from panel to Y-Buffer) except the top one. This will lower the load by 80%. Now run the test pattern by shorting 3-4 on jumper at T-Con (remember to disconnect the LVDS cable from Main AV to T-Con)....

Re: Samsung HP-T4254 got horizontal lines and 2-3" stripe
I will examine the panel for any visible damage and do a color pattern test (don't know even there is some pattern test even available on this 2007 panel).
A local tech was telling me that if the +5V supply failed during the operation, it could have affected the AV board or the logic board. So I was thinking to do a color pattern test as well.Last edited by Ijaz Ahmed; 02-14-2014, 10:39 AM.

Re: Samsung HP-T4254 got horizontal lines and 2-3" stripe
Quite a logical answer but why the black area/lines glow while the rest of the panel is displaying the picture ?
That is the only thing which is confusing me to think about electronic fault rather than a Y-electrode or panel damage.
Would a color pattern test help in finding something ?Last edited by Ijaz Ahmed; 02-14-2014, 10:32 AM.

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
With all X-Electrodes connected and only One Y-Electrode connected, I was able to get some picture (attached). The picture is noisy, colorless showing a channel name 'ATV' and horizontal lines are not even continuous.
Main issues now.
1) The horizontal lines are discontiuous and no color, even in test pattern mode.
2) However in test pattern mode, these bright pixels change color R, G, B etc.
3) If I add one more Y-Electrode, then even this picture disappears.
4) Adding even more...

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
Got the new Y-Buffer, Y-Main and X-Main as a set.
Replaced Y-Buffer just as a precaution and used my previous X-Main with Y-Electrodes disconnected and X-Electrodes all connected. No smoke, though I could hear some arcing noise from X-Electrodes side which was not continuous and would occur and disappear. All the critical voltages were found OK.
Then disconnected the LVDS and placed a jumper on control board for test patterns and connected the top Y-Electrode to Y-Main. I was able to see some white random...Last edited by Ijaz Ahmed; 02-12-2014, 12:26 PM.

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
This model has one single Y-Buffer.
You mean I should connect all X-main electrodes (brown FPCs) and remove all Y-Side flat cables from Y-Buffer, if does not fail then start attaching the Y-FPCs one by one and see where it fails ?
I did a complete short check from all X-Electrodes to all Y-Electrodes (each connection on each Y-Cable) but found nothing....

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
I have ordered the parts X-Main, Y-Main and Y-Buffers for this PS51D490A1. In the meanwhile, I kept working on this TV from time to time and have checked the following.
With X-Main FPC (brown flat cables) disconnected,
1) Upon power up, front Standby LED flashes 5 times. Not sure what it is telling.
2) VS, Ve, Vscan, Va V(ERC) are all normal and stable.
3) Green LED flashes approximately at 1 Hz on Logic board.
4) Checked the Y-Buffer for shorts (output to...

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
Thanks a bunch for the Panasonic service manual tip. Now I understand what X and Y main are actually doing.
Sorry but got busy with some other work, yet have to fix the plasma TVs. I have ordered the boards + some SMT components for my faulty plasma TVs. As the boards arrive, I will get back to my threads here.

Re: HCT HPP-42HCB Plasma video issues, audio working
Nice find, the daughter board seems to be a switcher at local level and this R22 looks like in the primary side and in the snubber circuit for Q20. You should also check Q20 and if found bad, also suspect the U20 (seems a PWM controller) and the D20 as well.

Re: HCT HPP-42HCB Plasma video issues, audio working
The symptoms you have described are related to Z-Sus board. So focus on Z-Sus, haqve you checked the SMT fuses on Z-Sus (near P1 connector, Red and Blue wires) ?
You should check for open or shorts on the power semiconductors, power resistors etc. What is the exact part number of Z-Sus board ?

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
^ Yes, I have an HP digitizing 100MHz scope at hand with a line isolation transformer.
Since the IGBTs were fully shorted on all three pins, so I suspected the driver chips and tested the o/p of the driver chips for a short to either Vcc or Gnd but did not find any. Also the driver chips of the the shorted IGBTs were giving same readings as those of whose IGBTs didn't burn. So I concluded that driver chips were still OK.
BTW: I have never found the schematics of Y-Main or X-Main. Do they exist ? If yes, I...

Re: Samsung PS51D490A1 has sound but no picture
^ Immediately.
The current status is that I have the new Y-Main, repaired original X-Main, X-out flat brown cables disconnected. The green LED on logic board is flashing at 1Hz approx, all voltages are stable now, even Ve on X-Main is generated and Y-out (from Y-Main) along with X-Out from X-Main are generated.
Is it time to connect back the brown X-Out flat cables and see if it works ?
