    Vizio v0420e - backlight problem

got a vizio V0420E here that turns on just fine, displays video and sound but there is no backlight! i can see video if i shine a flashlight on the screen so i know everything else is working fine.
the inverter and PSU are combined in one on this unit and im not familiar with this style. there are only 2 connectors with 1 wire each so 2 wires total going into the LCD panel.

the backlight flashes for a moment when u first turn it on but nothing after that.

as far as i can tell all the voltages are there12v and 5v...though im not sure what "LAMP STATUS" should be...but i get 0
i get zero on DCR and VIBRA too
    but i get 2.23 on INVERTER_ON/OFF
    and DIM i get 2.34

PS_On is 0 when on standby and goes up to 2.something when it turns on

edit...i was getting backlight flashes but now i cant seem to get any at all.

edit...ok i am getting them again (maybe it wasnt dark enough)

still pretty clueless on how to test backlights, as that probe thing i built has never worked (and all it is is a wire on the end of a CFL bulb...)

    what can i do?

is this called "2 seconds to black" ? cuz its not 2 seconds at all...its just a flash

Does the DC Voltage on the two legs of the main filter cap stay at >350VDC?
