Samsung LE32R81B colors washed out

Hello, someone called about this TV, he says it's got washed out picture. I was thinking AS15 fault by the description, but this TV doesn't use AS15 on the Tcon. The Tcon board would look like this:



I haven't yet got the TV in but any pointers would be welcome.

It still might have an AS15, as Samsung is well known for using multiple different panels in their LCDs.

I am pretty sure i repaired one a xxr81 with as15. maybe your searches are wrong, because in the polish forum someone claims the R81 is equiped with a AUO display.

Ok thanks guys. I'll ask the owner to bring the set in so i can take it apart and see for sure what's in there.

One thing I have noticed about ETrontec T-cons they don't Gamma fail like AUO Optronics T-cons do, they usually just stop displaying all together and have faint rainbow lines going vertically down the screen.

Etrontech is just the manufacturer of the RAM.
The T-con is made by Samsung. (Wise View = a brand of Samsung AMLCD timing controller, also sold to other manufacturers)

Yes, I just use the EtronTech as a reference as that's the RAM chip I see on those so the name just stuck with me.

Update. It indeed had AS15, with the -G suffix. I had mistakenly ordered AS15-F. The part arrived yesterday. I've read that they are all compatible, so i soldered the new AS15-F in today.

TV now back in fully working condition with great colors. Thanks guys.
