    Toshiba 46L5200U1 Power issues.

Hey everyone, thanks for taking a look at this issue.

I've received a TV that I was tasked to fix by my father in law (if possible).
The main issue is there is no backlight and no display. I've attempted the flashlight trick and am getting no indication any pixels are being lit etc. the green power led does come up on the front of the TV, and the unit is responsive to the remote control etc.

So I disassembled it last night after reading a Vizio W37 thread on here that was of great help to me. I was able to diagnose some things

I've verified that the 3.3V input from the Main board to the PSU is good, and I am getting the full 5 volts on the PSU side. I am NOT getting 12VA (pins 3,4) and am also not getting 12VCC (pins 8,9) (Picture 1)
I am also not getting voltage on the 24VLED outputs to the inverter. (Picture 2)

I've traced this back to the secondary side of the transformer. When I power on the TV I get 1-2 volts with the meter, for roughly 1 second, and then it goes back down to zero.

I found a refurbished power supply board on ebay and just ordered it. It has a 14 day money back guarantee. But I wouldn't mind trying to find out the faulty components and maybe repairing this one and selling it to recoup the costs.

I've verified i'm getting voltage off of the big capacitors (getting 167v on each one) But im not sure if that is within the spec. Next to try is the rectifier circuit voltage. I've verified the AC fuse is good (first thing i checked).

Does anyone have the spec/manual on the Chicony PK101V3120I power supply board handy? I've been looking all over online and can't find one for it. Even emailed Chicony and haven't heard back at all.

Thanks for any/all help ahead of time.

What DC Voltage do you get on P802 pin 13 (POWN) when TV is off and when power switch is activated)

I'd like to know what I should be expecting for voltages on C1A and C1B. I'm currently getting 167v each.

I guess i could try to get some numbers off of the rectifier and see what I should be expecting, but ill have to desolder the heatsink to see the numbers.

Anyone have a spec sheet or manual for this power supply?

167VDC on the main filter caps are correct since this power supply does not have PFC Voltage booster circuit.

OK, PS_ON is OK, now we just need to find out why the switched 12V outputs are not on.

Thanks for the quick responses budm, I really appreciate it. I know you helped another user with his Vizio television and I followed all 10 pages of that, which helped me in debugging my issues. I guess my next steps are to look at the traces into the primary side of the transformer. It must be getting something on some windings as i'm getting the 5V output to the main board, but never see 12V out of it. Maybe those windings blew?

OK, I look at the bottom side of the board, right now the T1 which supplies the 12Vs and the Voltage for the LED backlights is not putting out, it can be due to bad cap (red circle), bad SMPS IC U1 (need P/N so we can find out which pin is the VCC pin to check).

Thanks for the info. I'll try to get some pictures tonight to see which chip IC U1 is, and i'll also check out the test points you mentioned. Thanks for the great info!

I have same problem, but the power supply is not exactly the same. Model Chicony PK101W0230l

                          C1A and C1B 389.7V when P802 is connected and 146V with P802 unpluged.

I have 5V output to main board, but not 12V output

PWON has 3.1 V when I plug the TV, no chage if I turn on. Can be a problem with power button?

                          Can somebody help me here?

                          Thanks for all help.

So what is your TV model number? You should start a new thread if your TV is not the same.

I have a friend that just gave me the same model of Toshiba and the issue it's having is that once the TV is turned on it turns it's self right back off. Doesn't seem to have a issue with the display or the LED. That all looks good when the TV is on. It's just not staying on. Could it be that that power supply board be defective? I ordered a new one just to try it out. But what do you think? Thanks
