Does this sound plausible? Samsung Y-Sus / buffer question

    Hey all,

It seems I'm getting railroaded yet again on Ebay trying to sell a few parts I don't need.

This buyer (allegedly a TV shop, and basically a competitor on Ebay) bought a YSUS and buffer board pair from me. This was from a PN51 series Samsung plasma. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures or exact records of this set, but I do know that it powered on , and very likely had some light/picture coming from it's cracked panel.

The buyer didn't even bother to contact me. Opened a claim (which is bad) and says "Board is bad because No Vs at all". I'm assuming if he's being honest, this was a shorted buffer board that slipped through my fingers, but the YSUS is likely OK? What do you think about this situation? Thanks much!

Re: Does this sound plausible? Samsung Y-Sus / buffer question

Well interesting thing is the ymain does not produce Vs, the PSU does, so what exactly are they saying?

As for "very likely has some light" sounds like an assumption . I'd expect not from a cracked panel but if it powered on then I'd be leaning towards there was no fault detected as it would shutdown.

Did you check Vsus was available when your board was in and running?

Not an expert on Samsung but if D series if I think if either y or x are disconnected or faulty, Vsus is not produced but may momentarily at switch on.
the heart beat on the logic board is usually an indication if it's running or not.

if running a blink every sec if faulted on for 2 sec off for about 5 and repeats which indicates protection cct is on and no Vsus.

Hopefully you have the boards marked and you get them back and/or they have not blown them as there's a chance a bad xmain can kill the y but again without a model number I'm guessing.

maybe misdiagnosis and they have bad x, now realise and just used your board to fault find the TV.

we can only presume and guess. If it was tested in a working TV and produced a picture, it would be better but how do you prove this even if so?

Yeah, I don't sell much for this reason, both sides need to be honest, very easy to just log a claim and paypal will most likely give them a refund and charge you, but i have not been in that situation.

i go out of my way to photograph the board installed and working which for a panasonic with the onboard led being lit is a good sign the board is running and ok.

Rock and a hard place for you I think, hope it gets sorted fairly for you.

Most people would make contact first so could be a someone who knows how the system works and has been on the side of a paypal claim.

Not much you can do except get it back and hope it's still good to be sold.

Re: Does this sound plausible? Samsung Y-Sus / buffer question

thanks tw for the informative reply.

I very likely will not get the board back. One, the buyer is simply demanding a refund. Two, Ebay has just laid down some horrible new policies for sellers (which is another BIG reason why I'm really upset with this buyer/seller as he should know better). Basically, just opening the case, is a "defect" on my account. Also, if I want the board back, I have to pay to have it shipped back.

I do realize I should know and be doing further testing on anything I sell on Ebay, but I can only do so much as I know It's interesting what you said about Vs, and that is how I understand it as well. Regarding the panel, it was cracked, and did have light. What I have been doing as well for these sets, is testing the HDMI inputs with a camcorder, to ensure the set is producing sound, mainboard is working, etc. All that passed. I just can't recall the exactly condition/appearance of the panel while the set was powered on ... because I didn't take a picture. However, I know that the panasonics are the only ones that I have been letting a dark screen slide on , because they sometimes blink instead for a cracked plasma panel.

If this guy is a TV shop, as he claims to be, I wonder what's up with this "No Vs at all" complaint for the Y-SUS and buffer pair I sent him? Like we we saying, that doesn't even sound like a valid complaint. Then again, for all we know, he's just scamming. The guy has several selling accounts with hundreds of tv parts listed

It's possible to get some light out of some of the newer plasmas when cracked. However the Y-buffer is almost always killed by the cracked panel.

You can blacklist so blacklist all his names, sounds like a smartarse. Just makes it hard for all the honest people.

he's probably had a few claims himself so maybe he feels he 's owed one.

Interesting, and I guess I've been confused about this. I thought the buffers only rarely were shorted by a panel break. It sounds like the best plan is simply to toss the y-buffer whenever the panel is cracked? Are the x-buffers usually safe in the event of panel crack?

This is why I don't sell parts on eBay, seller has ZERO protection on eBay anymore. And WAY to many DIY'ers out there that have no idea what they are doing and install something wrong or hook it up wrong or order the wrong part due to lack of research and put the blame on the seller and screw em over with bad feed back.

Sounds like someone is pulling the wool over your eyes man, if you do get your part back it will probably be their blown Ysus board. Did you write down the part serial number or mark it so that you know its the one you sent?

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
                  by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
                  All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between

                  Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

                  Symptom:
                  No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
                  No sound at all.

                  What I tried:
                  1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
                  by Ierwin
                  Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
